Lol Moviefone: Proof That Steven Seagal Has Been Busy Making Movies The Past Decade

Steven Seagal officially re-entered the pop culture zeitgeist with the recent premiere of his A&E reality show "Steven Seagal: Lawman", which finds the former big-ticket action star getting his Miranda Rights on with unsuspecting delinquents (It must be so much cooler if when you get arrested, it's by Steven Seagal!).

The program could be looked at as a comeback vehicle of sorts for the pony-tailed tough guy, but contrary to popular belief, Seagal has not been collecting unemployment since his Hollywood stock plummeted several years back.

In fact, Seagal has remained somewhat of a workhorse. You'd just have to pay close attention to the straight-to-DVD vaults to notice.

In addition to a small role in 2008's direct-to-DVD Onion Movie (in which he played "C**k Puncher" ... yes, C**k Puncher), we enter into the court 19 pieces of evidence proving Seagal has been hard at work this century:

Exhibit A: A Dangerous Man

DVD Release Date: Feb. 9, 2010

Tagline: "They Started It. He'll Finish It."

Steven Seagal Is: Shane Daniels, a special forces agent-turned-falsely imprisoned convict who takes on Chinese mobsters

Exhibit D: Against the Dark

DVD Release Date: Feb. 10, 2009

Tagline: "He Lives By the Sword. They Will Die By It."

Steven Seagal Is: Tao, a katana master-turned-apocalypse survivor who takes on vampire zombies

Exhibit E: Kill Switch

DVD Release Date: Oct. 7, 2008

Tagline: "His Rules. His Way. No Exceptions."

Steven Seagal Is: Jacob King, a Memphis police detective who takes on serial killers

Exhibit F: Pistol Whipped

DVD Release Date: March 4, 2008

Tagline: "They Came to Collect a Debt. He Paid in Full."

Steven Seagal Is: Matt Conner, a former elite cop-turned-degenerate gambler/alcoholic who takes on Connecticut gangsters

Exhibit G: Urban Justice

Steven Seagal Is: Simon Ballester, a former government special ops agent who takes on the gang members who killed his son

Exhibit H: Flight of Fury

Tagline: "A Flight Plan to Freedom"

Steven Seagal Is: John Sands, a former Air Force special ops agent who takes on terrorists

Exhibit I: Attack Force

What's funny about these two are the situations behind them:

Fire Down Below (1997) was a huge flop upon original theatrical release and thus ended his multi-picture contract with Warner Bros. He then made his first direct-to-video movie after this.

Half Past Dead (2002) was then Seagal's final theatrical release for a long time until now with Machete coming out soon. From 2003 - 2010 he was all direct-to-video.

This is also his only film rated PG-13 with everything else being R.

I do like them both but they aren't favorites of mine.

I've seen most of his straight to video movies and i like most of them. I'm gonna check out those 2 new ones you mentioned JamesG called The Keeper and A Dangerous Man. Machete movie he's working on is coming to theatres? Cuba Gooding Jr is another one who's been busy doing a lot of straight to video movies and i like most of them. JamesG, have you seen his latest one Wrong Turn To Tahoe with Harvey Keitel? That's a good one.

I saw The Keeper and I think it is one of his better movies. I still haven't gotten around to his most recent A Dangerous Man but I will pick it up shortly.

Yes, Machete is going to theaters and it is set for April 16, 2010. This will be Seagal's first theatrical release since 2002's Half Past Dead.

Of the movies listed here I really didn't like Driven To Kill. Seagal was really laughable trying to do a Russian accent. The movie itself is what you would expect from a Seagal flick but he is so bad in this.

I also didn't care for Today You Die and Against the Dark with the vampires.

I really liked Mercenary For Justice, The Foreigner, and Urban Justice.

No I haven't seen Wrong Turn to Tahoe yet.

Who else is in Machete? Did you know there's a Half Past Dead 2 with wrestler Bill Goldberg and rapper Kurupt? Steven isn't in it. I haven't seen it but i've seen it on the shelf at Blockbuster Video. I liked Today You Die movie with fine ass lightskin woman Mari Morrow who was Steven's woman and rapper Treach of Naughty By Nature. I was surprised Mari was his woman in that. I laugh when i see Steven kissing women because he doesn't seem like the romantic type hahahahahahahahahaha. He had a black girlfriend in Pistol Whipped movie LOL.

For the cast of Machete go to their IMDB page here - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0985694/

I know of Half Past Dead 2 but I haven't checked it out yet.
On a side note I watched The Marine 2 recently with Ted DiBiase Jr. and I actually thought it was decent.

I didn't really care for Today You Die. Pistol Whipped was alright.

He knows a lot of people that are kidnapped- Polish pen pal, his daughter(twice), someone he's protecting, late friend's wife and and son, 5 American soldiers, a former student.

My husband enjoys Steven Seagal movies. I order them from Netflix all the time. My husband jokes that now that now that he's older and bigger, the action swirls around him. He spends a lot of time hiding behind things and shooting at the bad guys, whereas before he was running after them, climbing, jumping, etc. Another ploy when action stars age, (like Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson) is giving them a young, handsome co-star, and let them do all the heavy lifting. It's good for drawing in the younger audience too.

Yep, and he saves all of them.

I also love that he's holding a gun on every single DVD cover; except for Against The Dark where he has a sword instead.

EDIT - Actually his daughter was taken three times. Driven To Kill, Shadow Man, and Belly of the Beast.

Not only that but you could also tell when Seagal obviously uses doubles. In some of his movies I don't think he even tries to hide it.

Yep, that's what Shia LaBeouf did in the new Indiana Jones and Justin Long for the new Die Hard.

I do have to say that for the new Rambo Stallone didn't have any young, hot co-stars and he pulled it off quite well.

I went to Blockbuster Video yesterday and they didn't have A Dangerous Man and i was kinda upset because i wanna see it. They didn't have any copies on the shelf because they don't have it at all. I talked to the cashier yesterday and asked him how come they don't have it. He said he doesn't know. I told him they have Steven's other straight to video movies. I didn't see The Keeper on the shelf either. I guess i might have to order those from Amazon.com.
