Hey, I was watching the first season of "The Lucy Show" for the umteenth time but it's still good and I got to wondering.
Do you think they'll release a colorized version of the first season one day? I read somewhere that they colorized the first season of "Bewitched" and the few seasons of "I Dream Of Jeanie". So, do you think they should release a color version of the official first season? Would the episode where Lucy and Viv are parading one the roof putting up a TV antanna look good in color? They have a color picture of them on the front of the box so, they could just use that as a reference while colorizing the episode. Also, they could use the fallowing 2 season as references for the set, cloths and everthing. So, how do you think a colorized version of the first season would look if they did one? |

Just as I thought. No replies. I never get any replies to my threads anymore. I'll probably just quit coming here.

Don't get discouraged anout replies, I usually feel the same way, I start or respond to a thread which I put alot of well educated thought into and usually get no repies or someone replies way off-topic....but that is the beauty of life and family here at sitcoms online.....you start with a thread title example of "what is your favorite lucy moment?" and it eventually ends with someone posting their favorite food at McDonalds...lol.... now to your lucy suggestion.....first many posters here are very against colorization because they are looking at things that were colorized back when the technology wasn't perfected and people usually got "colorized" blue lips, etc.........I don't think, in fact I would be shocked if they ever colorized the first season of "The Lucy Show", but if they did, let me assure you the technology now looks like actual filmed color.....just take a look at the "Lucy In Scotland" I Love Lucy episode recently colorized and released only in the I Love Lucy boxset, but now being released individual in April I believe......the color is frightening amazing and actual looks like it was originally filmed in color...the only negative is the colors are so bright and vivid, it almost looks candy colored....but I enjoy it as a novelty, as long as the original black and white episode is also available. my best to you..... |

I don't know of any other tv sitcom complete seasons that were colorized besides Bewitched (from b&w). I Love Lucy colorized Lucy in Scotland and the Christmas episode (I think).
I do remember when Ted Turner announced he was going to colorize classic movies, people were in an up-roar, because they didn't think they should be tampered with. |

the entire series of McHales Navy & the first season of Gilligan's Island were colorized and syndicated.....Dennis The Menace was planned, but if it ever was colorized, it was never offered or seen.

What many people don't realize that the colorization of the black and white seasons of both bewitched and jeannie were not done for the dvd releases...they were done for syndication, because tv executives believe young people don't want to watch tv series in black and white......the color versions of bewitched and jeannie aired on The Hallmark Channel years before they were ever released on DVD. So they had nothing to lose or invest when giving consumers a choice when they were released on DVD. That's why since "The Lucy Show" season one has already been released, there isn't a snowballs chance in H*** that they would invest and release it now, especially again since they are already working on seasons 2 and 3. which of course were filmed in color, but aired mainly in black and white when they premiered in the early years of color TV.
Most likely when TV Land brings back "Bewitched" this spring 2010, it will be the black and white versions that air.....since I believe the colorized versions have been pulled for syndication and are now exclusive to DVD. Separately if CBS/Paramount did want to invest in colorizing one season B&W shows, they would have colorized season one of "Gomer Pyle, USMC" since it was being released at about the same time as when bewitched and jeannie were, but again Gomer had not already been colorized unlike the other two..... my best to you.... |

![]() I don't think they will ever colorize I Love Lucy. I'm not sure why, but I don't see it happening. Maybe it's better that way since it is a classic. |
