TV as a whole has gone downhill fast, IMO. The other night I tried forever to find something to watch because I am so sick of watching the room makeover shows on HGTV, but finally caved in and watched that station anyway.
I can't stand reality shows at all, and it's sad how even stations like Bravo (which used to show great movies) seem to have them on at all hours of the day. I hate that the TV stations put their logo in the lower right hand corner of the screen, like it's branded in place. The only time it's nice is when I am flipping through stations and can easily see what station I'm on. I hate that the networks (all of them it seems) are so stingy with the movie credits, and reduce them in size while running them at lightening speed so that they can add a commercial or the start of another show on the top half of the screen. These days I'm actually surprised if I see credits rolling at a normal speed. I mean, how stupid to speed it up, just to make room for a commercial or to show the same movie again? I was watching Groundhog Day on Bravo earlier tonight and the logo on the right hand side was so big that it was covering up part of Bill Murray's face! Just insane! I could go on and on but I just had to vent about that! In all fairness, one thing I do like is how some stations will put "You're watching....." and then the title in the lower left hand corner, so that you don't have to try and figure it out. |

Ah Schmoopie you're not alone.......... This morning I was changing the channel to see the Lifetime movies and again the same dreaded movie Mrs. Winterbourne came up. Everytime I changed to the channel it's the same movie. Nothing new.
You said about the end of any movie or show how they put the credits on the bottom and I'm trying to squint my eyes because I wanted to know who the actor was or who sang the music and it just flies by. I too feel your pain.

Let's see, I love TV it's basically my life right now. But there are some things that I hate like.
Commercials that constintly play every hour,24 minutes,30,mintues,20min,10mins,5mins a day. If it's a commercial that isn't played all the time i'd be fine with the commercial. The next thing is the Editing of tv shows when the show goes into syndication especially older shows. They always either edited too much or edit out the fun and good parts of a show. The third thing is Reality shows, yes I watch some but it's getting way out of hand every year there's a new show out. I'm sick of reality shows and tv networks putting them on everyday. I do like some reality shows but enough is enough and too much is wayyyyyy too much these days. I guess that's it for now. I might have more but right now this is all I dislike on tv right now. |

- less sitcoms being made and shown on tv
- too much trashy reality tv - crappy kids cartoons, which are nowhere as good as those in 60s to early 90s - too much drama, i prefer sitcoms- i miss having a laugh and having fun by watching those types of shows. - tv networks infuriating its fanbase by cancelling tv shows- as an ugly betty fan i am still mad at abc for what they did. |

I hate the way TV is geared toward the young anymore. It's like nobody else matters.

I feel my IQ drop when I watch a reality show. I just devolve into this shuffling lump that yells back at the TV screen.
Most of the television shows on network TV suck, too. What gives? Even the dramas and comedies suck now. I'd like to see this so-called brilliant television everyone is talking about. |

Glad to see I'm not the only one! Right after I posted this, I couldn't help but wonder if I had posted something similar to this a while back. Well, sadly, TV's become so bad that it's nice to have things like On Demand and DVD's for our enjoyment.

I agree with you guys so much! I can't stand the trashy reality shows. I also think there are far too many crime dramas on TV. I also don't care for shows like Lost, Heroes, and Grey's Anatomy. The few sitcoms that are still on, I don't find funny at all. TV really has become such a vast wasteland.
