Robert Knepper has likened working on Heroes to reading Shakespeare.

The former Prison Break actor, who joined Heroes at the start of the current fourth season, described his character's storylines as "big stuff".

"There's only a handful of stories, but it's how differently you tell them - and that's definitely the case here this year," he said.

"I've had a blast - it literally reminds me of my old school days reading Shakespeare and going 'Oh no, how am I gonna do this? How am I gonna make this believable and real?' It's big stuff to play with."

Heroes concludes Monday at 9pm on NBC.
