Default Question for Anxiety sufferers

Have any of you ever heard of this method of eliminating panic attacks?

It's called the Linden Method and it seems to be highly recommended.

I would also be open to any other advice you could give me.

No, I've never heard of this. I'm always interested in hearing about different ways to cope because I have anxiety problems too, so thanks for sharing.

A little off topic, but I feel like for the past month or so, I've been having a particularly hard time breathing. I literally feel somewhat suffocated through a good portion of the day and in order to breath fully out, I have to force myself to cough a little. It's strange and it's quite a burden, too. I've done the coughing thing for years now, but I've never had this hard of a time breathing constantly. Anyone ever experience anything like that? It's almost to the point where I worry that it's something other than anxiety.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how it works if you decide to order it.

I haven't heard of that. I'll check out the link.

I suffer from anxiety, depression, PTSD and insomnia.

^ I have insomnia, too - but so do a lot of people on my dad's side of the family. I've had it as long as I can remember.

I didn't even read it all, because I don't believe in what it said. As a sufferer of panic anxiety since at least five years, I know enough about it to say, that nothing there sounded helpful to me. They say panic axiety isn't an illness, but an "behavorial condition". Yeah right... They say panic anxiety, phobias, obsessions etc etc are caused by the amygdala being artifically stuck on "danger mode". Oh yeah? So how do we stop that then? They say medication doesn't cure the panic anxiety, but only hides the symptoms. Of course that's true, but only because there is no real cure for panic anxiety! But thanks to medication, I'm able to work part time. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to even do that. So I say "nice try" to this Linden method, but I don't believe in it one bit.

That's not off topic at all! After all, this thread is about panic anxiety.

I too had such a period very recently, when it's felt difficult for me to breathe. If you're like me, I think you'll be better again soon. If not, you might want to see a doctor about it.

Exactly. Even with my meds, it doesn't completely take the edge off. Like you, no one will ever be able to convince me that panic disorder is not an illness. Anything that cripples your life to the extent that panic disorder has mine - is an illness. I don't care what anyone else says.

Sad My Dear Friend...

I'm so sorry to hear that this is still happening to you. I don't suffer from anxiety. I get moments of sadness, but I think that's based in grief. I do believe that medication is helpful. I take a pill to relax me when I feel overwhelmed with sadness. My prayers are with you, with all of you here who suffer. It's not fair, yet not much seems to be.

Thank you. I have been put of 2 different types of medications which seem to be helping. My goal is to one day beat this problem completely with or without medication and I'm curious about this Linden Method. I may fork out the money and try it.

Your thoughts and prayers, however have meant more to me then I could ever express. I'll never forget it.

One thing I miss about insurance is using that to go see a professional therapist to talk to. Cant talk to my friends about my issues and anxieties since they are part of the issues.

Maybe you could talk to your pastor?
