Default Math - can anyone else just not do it?

does anyone else seriously feel like they are just incapable of doing math? seriously. i do really well in my English classes (which i'm in AP in), my history/social studies classes, and my music classes. but when it comes to Math i just can't do it. i look at like an advance algebra problem and my brain just gives out. i just can't bring myself to understand advanced math. i can do basic math fine, like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ect...but when it gets to be like... y + x(4-5) to the square root of 3 divided by 2 times z to the tenth power im just like.... . i just don't get it, and i can't get my brain to understand it. it makes me feel like a moron too, even though i do really well in other classes.

is anyone else just flat-out horrible at math?

Yes, I definitely hate it. I struggled through the math classes that I had to take toward my degree. Then I get people saying, "Well, you're going into accounting, so you must be good at math!" Um, no, not exactly. Accounting certainly isn't learning a math.

I'm with you, Joe. I'm great when it comes to numbers, but past algebra, I'm an idiot. I even struggled a bit with algebra!! I never understood why our school made us take it. Unless whatever career you choose is when you need that, then fine, but to this day, I have never used it after high school. We only needed 3 credits of math, so in my junior year, I just took business math, just to get my math credits done.

Like you, Joe, I did well in my other classes, too, especially English. I think some people are just good in math and science, while others excel in English, Social Studies, & Foreign Language.

I'm with you, homes. I just barely passed it in high school. I had to get a ton of extra help, etc. It just wasn't my thing. Some of us are logical thinkers and some of us are creative thinkers. It doesn't mean one is any smarter than the other, it's just our way of learning.

Math was always my worst subject. I couldnt get any of it. I can still barely add and subtract. Damn I hate that subject and hope to never have to take another math class again.

But I hate math, too.

I am awful in math. People have tried to no end to help me with it, and I always get defensive about it. Definitely a sore spot with me. I should have a better attitude about it, but it just gets to me. I guess it's just that deep down I know that I can understand it, but my mind just doesn't cooperate! I have had this problem all my life, really. Well, since 4th grade anyway. I was always in special ed math classes but I did okay in most of my other subjects. Ive even been thisclose to getting an Associates degree, but there is a math requirement and in order to take the class that would count toward the degree, you have to place in the class. Well, unfortunately, I did so poorly on the assesment test that it means that I'd have to take THREE NON-CREDIT classes just to take the class that would count. Very frustrating! I don't even really want to major in what the degree would be in, but it would be nice to say that I had a degree. Sigh....

I am okay at math, far from being a mathematician, though.

My brother, excelled at this subject!!!

I am totally Math impaired! I still count on my fingers.
But I am a whiz at Spelling or remembering names and places.

Yes, basic math I can do like everone else. However when it comes to the stuff I am doing now, I fail miserably. The only class I have a chance at actually failing in this year.
