(Los Angeles, CA) February 2, 2010 -- Celebrity entertainers Matthew & Gunnar Nelson announced the kick off of the Ricky Nelson Remembered 25th Anniversary Tour in the Los Angeles area March 4-6 with 3 special engagement shows at the BriXton South Bay, The Canyon, and The Coach House.
“Ricky Nelson Remembered” is a unique multi media tribute show featuring the live music of Ricky Nelson's hit songs (including “Hello Mary Lou", "Travelin' Man”, “Garden Party") performed by Ricky's own twin sons Matthew & Gunnar and includes never before seen big screen video footage of the Nelson family with interviews from celebrities influenced by Ricky Nelson. The show appeals to a wide audience and multiple generations and celebrates the life of America’s original ‘Teen Idol’. This year 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of Rick Nelson's passing in a tragic New Year’s Eve plane crash. “Ricky Nelson may have been a rock icon but to us he was just our ‘Pop’,” said Gunnar Nelson. “Matthew and I still miss him immensely. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone twenty-five years. He was our inspiration and we want to keep his sweet memory alive through his wonderful music.” "Our Pop (Ricky Nelson) was our best friend and performing his music always makes Gunnar and I feel closer to him,” adds Matthew Nelson. “We feel it’s our duty and an honor to carry on and keep his legacy alive. It’s only fitting we should kick off the 25th anniversary tour in our family’s backyard of Los Angeles.” “Ricky Nelson Remembered” stars Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the identical twin sons of Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famer Ricky Nelson and grandsons of ‘50s TV icons Ozzie & Harriet Nelson. When Matthew & Gunnar hit #1 on the Billboard with their rock band Nelson with their self-penned #1 mega hit "(Can't Live Without Your) Love & Affection" it put the Nelson family in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family in entertainment history with three generations of #1 Hitmakers! With their rock band Nelson, Matthew and Gunnar have (5) Five Top 40 Billboard hits, (4) Four #1 MTV videos and have sold over 6.5 million albums worldwide! Concert Information Ricky Nelson Remembered starring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson *25th Anniversary Tour featuring the Stone Canyon Band* March 4th – BriXton South Bay in Redondo Beach, CA March 5th – The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA March 6th – The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA Tickets available via Ticketmaster.com. About Ricky Nelson Ricky Nelson has been inducted into the Rockabilly and Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fames and has been honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ricky Nelson is the only artist to have a number one song "Poor Little Fool”, number one movie "Rio Bravo" and a number one TV show "Ozzie & Harriet" all in same week. Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man" music performance montage on TV's longest running sitcom "Ozzie & Harriet" is recognized as the first conceptual music video. Rick Nelson is credited with co-founding Country-Rock music, and has sold over 100 million lifetime record sales (verified by RIAA). As a singer-songwriter, Rick Nelson’s biggest hit was “Garden Party” which was recently honored in the Nashville Music Garden. How sweet and wonderful of Matthew and Gunnar to do this. It sounds like a terrific show. They have never made any bones about how much they still love and miss their dad...what a great way to honor Ricky's memory!

It's great that Matthew and Gunnar are honoring their father in this way. And it's great that they're introducing their fathers music to a whole new generation of fans.

But I'd heard it a long time ago because my parents were about the same age as Ricky and listened to his music.

The apples don't fall far from the tree! The boys are lovely young men - respectful and talented - just like their dad. Glad they're doing their part to keep Rick's memory alive - like us devoted fans would forget - but others - maybe now - will get an appreciation of just how much Rick Nelson left us.

Rick Nelson is an icon in music, and should be treated as such.

That CD isn't new, they did it about the same time the Legacy box came out. Is nice they honor their father, though. Sadly, the memory of Rick is fading with his songs no longer played on most oldies stations (50's is out, 70's/80's is in, 60's is barely there), the tv show not widely shown in syndication, etc. I hope they tour the entire U.S.

There needs to be a major motion picture made about Ricky. (Along the same scale as "La Bamba" or "Walk the Line".) THAT would get his music out there again. |

But who could convincingly play Rick? Or the other Nelsons, for that matter? That VH1 bio pic was terrible. Ozzie was a control freak, Harriet was a lush, Ricky was a stoner, and David was....well, they barely showed the "Dave" character. And the idiots who made that film could not get the rights to Rick's songs, so they substituted new songs written for the film. Totally bogus. How can you have a film about Rick's career in music and not feature It's Late, Travelin' Man, Believe What You Say, Garden Party and Easy to Be Free?

Older Ricky - Jason Lewis (that hot dude from "Sex and The City" who played Samantha's boyfriend, "Smith.") Darken that blonde hair and you've got as close as you can get to a 40+ Ricky Nelson. |
