Default Billboards "album of the year" and other observations

"The Beatles 1" It is amazing, really, that a band that disbanded over 30 years ago can still do such a thing. 30 years from now do you think anyone will know who N'SYNC was or Britney Spears? I think not. Thirty years from now the beatles will still be going strong and a new generation of music fans will discover the genius of 3 lads from liverpool (no offence to Ringo, but he was just the luckiest drummer ever, not an exceptional talent).

I went into a record store today and was amazed to see beatles (and George Harrison solo) albums literally flying off the shelves, both young and old. It's a shame that the death of George is what sparked the latest spirt, but nevertheless it is amazing that any band can still sell records by the millions years after their break-up. Do you think years from now when Justin Timberlake (I can't believe I know one of their names) dies, N'SYNC albums will be flying off the shelves? Again, I think not.

I don't care what any of you "the beatles are overrated mob" say the beatles are still going strong, and will continue for years and years to come, you just have to open your ears and embrace what is true music genius. Goodnight, and Godbless.

What you've said is true. I've loved the Beatles since I was 4. I cried when John died when I was 7 and last week I cried when George passed away. The Beatles are the only band that I've consistantly loved through the 70's, 80's, 90's. They are a very talented group of musicians and they have definite staying power, which I don't think that any of these new "boy bands" possess. (no offense to anyone that likes these bands). I mean, look at what happened to the New Kids on the Block.

I don't think anyone, even the "Beatles are overrated mob" could make any sort of argument that the boy bands will be as long lived. I mean come on, that's not rocket science.

The Beatles longevity is amazing but not surprising, but I think that some of the other pioneering bands like Led Zepplin, just to name one, will also be around just as long as the Beatles. (I'm personally not a huge fan of Zep, but I'm sure they'll still be around for many many years to come).

Comparing the Beatles to the trendy boy bands is really just about as apples and oranges as you can get.
