Did Alejandro Espinoza ever get the reward money for helping the police capture the nightstalker Ramirez? did he actually die like it was alluded to in the UM broadcast?

He is still on death row, though, and still married to her serial killer groupie. He will probably sit there for a long, long while as California is notoriously very slow in applying the death penalty. |

Since Robert Stack mentions that he might have been dead, chances are that his family received the money instead. |

Just watched a show about the night stalker on serial killer Sunday on CI, no mention of Espinoza tipping off the police or anything, guess his testimony wasn't really public knowledge.

The Nightstalker should've gotten the death penalty many times over by now! Since he's in California he'll probably never be executed or not until he's very old. With Jerry Brown as governor will there be any executions there at all?? |

The last paragraph of this story states he was given a share of the reward so they must have found him.

One thing I find odd though. The article is from October 25, 1989. Espinoza's story first aired on UM in February 1990. I wonder if the article is incorrect about them issuing the reward to Espinoza. Or, perhaps the story had already been filmed and edited, so they showed it anyway - if that were the case, you would think they would do an update or at least pull the story from syndication. I remember seeing it on Lifetime many times without any sort of update. Weird. |

IIRC, Stack mentioned that the police thought it possible that Espinoza might be deceased. My gut feeling is that they are correct - why else publicize that tidbit? That being said, his family (if they are still alive) may be unaware that Espinoza provided this information to the police and therefore unaware of the existence of the reward that they could rightfully claim. The fact that Espinoza knew a guy like Ramirez and snitched on him might not be information he shared with a lot of people or anyone. |
