Charlize Theron and David Fincher have teamed to develop a drama series, "Mind Hunter," for HBO and Fox 21 revolving around the investigation of serial killers.

Fox 21 has optioned the book "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit," by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The book recounts Douglas' experiences as a top FBI investigator of serial killers and rapists, and the profiling techniques he developed.


Scott Buck, an exec producer on Showtime's "Dexter," has been tapped to pen the pilot. Theron is producing through her Denver and Delilah banner, which she runs with Beth Kono and J.J. Harris.

Producer Jennifer Orme Erwin brought the book to Theron, who quickly set the project up at Fox 21.


"Mind Hunter" marks Fox 21's first project for HBO.
Project at present is in the script stage at the pay cabler.
