Movie Anna Marie Anton

another segment i found interesting was the murder of Anna Anton in Lyons Nebraska. The man who committed the crime, Greg Webb, a former police chief, was charged with her murder, sent to prison and has since been released. What i would like to know is y they didnt show a picture of Anna Anton on the segment? usually under normal circumstances they would have shown a picture and said a little about the victims history....i would like to know what she looked like...does anyone know where i can find a picture or a related article with more information on this case?

I could be mistaken but wasn't she a witness against organized crime?
Isn;t that the reason why she was in Lyons, NE to begin with?

If she was a witness the police or FBI may have not wanted her photo televised to protect other witnesses or investigations.

I wonder if she was in the witness protection program.

Anna Marie Anton does sound a lot like an alias.

true- it was believed that Anna had moved to Lyons to escape her ex husband who was supposedly involved with narcotics- however the ex was questioned and throughly investigated and they discovered that he wasn't involved in any sort of illegal activity and they believed anna had made up that story. however the police may have not investigated deep enough so it might be true- but what's with anna apparent double life? bar floozy in one area of nebraska and religious high moraled woman in another? if i was in the witness relocation program i would try and keep my head down and not show my face too often round any place where i could possibly be recognized. Something just doesnt add up.. im not diminishing the victim it is truly a sad case but i just think there are alot of unanswered questions and many mysterious angles......

You would think so. But apparently some criminals don't seem to grasp the concept. i.e. Sammy "The Bull" Gravano and Henry Hill (of "Goodfellas" fame)

Well...they are career criminals. And as such, they are anti-social people w/ little regard for societal norms. Even if they won the lottery or achieved great success in another field, their basic wiring is so screwed up that they'll always be at least petty crooks.

About Anna Anton: This is one case that I will have to give to law enforcement. When confronted w/ wrongdoing by one of their own, they didn't "close ranks" and they did get their man.

I have searched and searched the internet for a picture of her and have always came up with nothing.

I did come up with this interesting article though.

Good find, and thanks for the link. Historically, there hasn't been a wealth of online information on the case.

Both Anna Anton and Greg Webb are two of the most unusual and enigmatic people ever profiled on UM, IMO. It's kind of little wonder they ended up in the entanglement they did.

Iv'e seen this episode a million times and never noticed that the segment never showed her picture til you mentioned it. Odd.

Maybe her family wanted the segment aired but had second thoughts on showing her picture, maybe that had some sort of agreement. I don't know.

Thanks for the article, Mysteryphile. I always wondered why none of her family or friends from her hometown were interviewed on the UM segment. Her gravestone: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...GRid=101376171

Here's a 1981 article from the Spencer, Iowa Daily Reporter which mentions the marriage of an Anna Miller, described as a former Spencer resident, to Tom Anton in Florida. I was hoping for a photo of the couple but no such luck. Another article after the murder mentions that Anna grew up in Spencer, then lived in the Lake Park, FL and Milford (NE?) areas before moving to Lyons, NE.

Webb had a son, three prior marriages, and was living with another unsuspecting woman when he was captured.

It's been a long time since I've seen this segment, but I am wondering if the Geraldine Hively Anna Anton shares her tombstone with is that one friend who is interviewed in the segment. The friend had glasses, black curly hair, if I remember right.

If the friend featured in the segment is not Geraldine Hively, then I wonder who Geraldine Hively is?

No, the friend in the segment was named Shirley Edgecombe (spelling might be wrong).

Just a guess from what's on the joint tombstone, Geraldine Hively was probably her mother or possibly an aunt.

Turns out you are right, SolientGreen (clapping ). Based on the obit available at the link below, Geraldine was likely Anna's mom. I know some have suggested Anna was in the witness protection program; would Anna's name been in the obit if she was indeed in that program?

Everett was inducted to a Hall of Fame in 2008. I can't find if he is still alive or not. But it is him as his wife is mentioned in the article by name.
