Default The Undergraduate - 01/23/70

Not a lot to say about this one. A decent episode on the whole. I think this might even be the first Greg episode where he is not directly linked to one of the other kids.

The director pulls out the correct fourth wall to put behind Gregs bed during the bedroom scenes.

There is a small blooper during the scene with the parents and Alice discussing Greg's problem. In close ups Alices' arms are on the table but in wide shots one is under the table resting on her leg.

When Marcia tells Greg that boys look better with their shirts tucked in he promptly tucks his in but in the previous scene it was tucked in anyway and I think in every other scene Greg did he had his short tucked in.

I think Barry looked best during this season of the show. He was a real cute kid. He also gets to be a bit dramatic with his acting during some of the sadder scenes such as when telling Mike he got an 'F.'

I am responding to this thread mainly because this is one of the very few pages that I have any interest in that I am no already the most recent person to post on. I thought that this episode told a pretty good story. I know all about what it is like to have a crush on a teacher! I had this experience when I was thirteen years old. Mine was named Donna Nickles. Oh the stunts that I pulled to get on her good side!

I like this episode and I agree, Bachu, Barry is cute at this age. A couple of things I noticed:

The stack of books behind Mike's head change in the scene where he and Carol are in bed from the closeups to the long shots.

When Bobby gets the cookie jar you can't see the cookies, but on the closeup it's heaping with cookies!

Linda O'Hara talks about her "boyfriend," but Mike calls him her "finace." Kind of presumptuous!

This is the one where Marcia's friend Linda pronounces "Seattle" like she's never said the word before.

The actress playing Linda does have a unique way of speaking, as though she is really going for it. The Seattle line is one that stuck with me for years.

Something odd; Mike slaps Greg on his backside as he leaves the den during a fade between scenes and there is a laugh track added. Years later when Roseanne spanked DJ on Roseanne the actually hitting was the big storypoint. Back in the 70s I guess that was normally. Mikes was a kind of 'I'm very dissapointed in you' kind of spank, if you get my meaning.
