I have 4 rare 16mm prints of some Color Honeymooners episodes (originally I thought they were taped from a person's VCR back in the 60s.) I thought I would share some of them.
The first 16mm photo is a sponsor plug that I don't think was included in the MPI DVD set. The second one is a Glea Girl saying: "Stay tuned for more of the Jackie Gleason Show." The middle commercial bumper that was not included on the MPI DVDs. |

There was no such thing as a VCR in the 1960s. On what media did you aquire this? I see your stills are caps of Windows media player on your computer...you have this only as a downloaded file? In order for it to be from 16mm film, the film itself would have to have been recorded off of a monitor--a "kinescope". The kinescope process was almost entirely obsolete by the late 60s, but occasionally used--in black and white. The fact that this is in color leads me to doubt seriously that it came from a kinescope. It looks like videotape that's perhaps suffering from generational loss.

Originally, on the old Honeymooners message board in 2001, someone said they had a video recording of "King of The Castle." Around that time, we were all excited about the Color Honeymooners coming to the Hallmark Channel (we know what happened from there). He said that the person who recorded the show was one of the first people to own a VCR.
I got these prints in 2007. Long before they were released onto DVD. These prints are uncut and have the June Taylor Dancers opening number (something that ALN has edited out.) |

A little more information. These rare prints that I have are not from the "Trip To Europe/King of The Castle" episode package that was syndicated in the 1970s (except for "KIng of The Castle" obviously).
That person who on the old board claimed to have an old version of "King of The Castle" before 2001 may have the copy that was syndicated in the 70s. The 4 prints I acquired are from a tape trade. |
