Talking Down To Earth

Does anyone remember Down To Earth? It ran as a first run series on TBS in the mid 80's. It was about an angel named Ethel who was sent back down to earth to teach the Prestons lesson, Richard, Lissie, Dwayne, and J.J. too. Anyhow I have digital cable and was flipping through the on screen grid and came across it in reruns. I haven't seen it shown anywhere since TBS stopped airing it. From what I can tell it airs Mondays and Fridays only at 12:30 P.M. and then they rerun the same episode that evening at 6:30 P.M.eastern. It's on the GoodLife Network. I checked thier site to see a schedule but the schedule is wrong it doesn't show Down To Earth anywhere but I have seen it this past week so I know its on.

Talking

I too recall fondly this gem of the 80's. The series ran from 1984-87 and along with "Safe at Home," and my favorite "Rocky Road" was part of the original programming that TBS initiated in the 80's. I would love to see these shows again or see what has become of the actress that portrayed Ethel Mcdougal and to find out whatever become of the kids.

For your nostalgic pleasure, here are the lyrics to the memorable theme song:

Back in the days of Valentino, we know A maid named Ethel was so bright and alive (wacky doo, wacky doo) But she was struck down by a trolley, golly Said good-bye in nineteen twenty and five (toodleloo, toodleloo)

Ethel in heaven waited patiently To earn her wings and be An angel fancy-free Sixty years later the opportunity To help a family came through (Boo boo be doo, twenty-three skiddoo)

Back down to earth to teach the Prestons lessons, Richard, Lissie, Duane and Jay Jay too. Now she must be a 1980s lady, baby

Down to Earth its so hysterical (From here I forgot the last few lines)

I remember the show too. I watched it as a kid. The rest of the lines are:

Down to Earth is so Angelical
Down to Earth is so hysterical
Down to Earth is just incredible
She's Down to Earth
Down to Earth
Down to Earth!

Yes I saw this show on Goodlife tv with few years or so. I just found out that the girl Kyle Richards has a sisterf Kim Richards of Nanny and the Professor fame . The Richards sisters are aunts to Nicki and Paris Hilton. I thought Down to Earth was pretty good show. Did Dick Sargent at one time play the dad.?

Yes, Dick Sargent did play the father at one point. Much like his part on Bewitched he was the second actor to play this part. Not to mention that there was a certian "magic" aspect to this show. Ethel was an angel where Samantha was a witch but both could make things magically happen.

Interesting fact about the Richards sisters. I did not know they were aunts to the Hiltons. Do you remember Kim Richards on Hello Larry? Another show that fizzled wat too quick.

I think I watched this show a time or two. Not for sure, though.

I remember this show. Rip Taylor and Ronnie Schell were also on it as Ethel's boss(es). The girl who played Lissy is on ER now. I don't know how big her role is, but she is one of the nurses. The guy who played Dwayne was in Pearl Harbor as one of the doctors.

The girl who played Lissy is Paris Hilton's aunt, Kyle Richard-Umansky. I thought I had seen Kyle on something years ago, I used to LOVE Down to Earth!! I had forgotten all about it until I was watching Paris Hilton's BFF the other night and I saw her and the caption said it was her aunt, I couldn't figure out where I had seen her before, because I don't watch ER and had no clue who she was, so I went to imdb.com and looked her up and saw this show in her credits. Kyle is sisters with Kathy, Paris' mom and with the girl who starred in Escape To Witch Mountain.
