Default Questions about the ALF - Season Sets released in Germany

1. I'm from the US, what website could I order the ALF - Season Sets?

2. Does Germany have an amazon website like in the US?

3. Do the episodes play in English language?

4. Are the all the episodes from Season 1 and 2 all uncut and unedited? Is the opening theme uncut to?

5. Are the episodes from Seasons 1 and 2 all in the right order?

6. How much does Seasons 1 and 2 cost?

7. Does anyone have any idea when Seasons 3 and 4 will get released in Germany?

8. Do you have to have a region free DVD player in order to buy the ALF - Season Sets from Germany? If so, what's a good website or store to purchase a region free DVD player? How much do they usually cost?

9. Has anyone from the US bought ALF - Seasons 1 and 2 from Germany? If so, how do you like it?

10. Is there any special features on the ALF - Seasons 1 and 2 DVD Sets?

1. Amazon.de or ebay.de is a good choice.
2. See question 1
3. Yes, english is even the standard language I believe
4. Someone mentioned one line being cut from the pilot but I cant verify that, "For your eyes only" is missing 40 seconds cause one song had to be removed due to music rights, "Try to Remember" is the censored version where ALF hits his head instead of being electrocuted, "Somewhere over the Rerun" uses a syndicated print, but is still one minute longer than on the american sets. The other 47 episodes are, to my knowledge, uncut. All the music is intact.
5. Yes
6. Currently 22.97€ and 29.99€ respectivly on amazon, probably cheaper on ebay.
7. No dates have been given yet
8. The german sets are region 2, while the standard in the US is region 1. Region free dvd players are extremly cheap here (Sweden), I got no idea about the US market. Most DVD players can be manually set to region free.
9. Cant really respond to this one.. but I like them myself, crisp nice video and season 1 alone has over an hour of footage that the american DVDs cut out. ("Wild thing" is 19 minutes in the US dvd, 24:45 on the german dvd)
10. None whatsoever.

I'm so looking forward to watching the complete first season in it's true uncut form.
I will order the 2nd season later. Did not want to charge to mutch on the credit card that I used.

Thanks so much for responding with the answers. I'm trying to decide what web site and what kind of Region Free DVD player to get. Since the Germany sets are Region 2, I would need the Region Free DVD player to be able to play the Region 2 Germany sets. Do you have any ideas on what web site and what kind of Region Free DVD player to get?

Cool. That's great. I will order mine after I buy a Region Free DVD player. Do have a Region Free DVD player that plays Region 2 DVDs? If so, what's the name of the Region Free DVD player and is it a good one?

I will have to do a google search for All Region DVD Players. I just want a regular All Region DVD Player, I do not need an All Region Blue Ray DVD Player.

Received my import copy of ALF season 1 this mourning. I'm so excited!
Looking forward to seeing what scenes I have been missing from the crappy US version.
Well going to start watching this afternoon. Probably get the whole season watched by the time Monday rolls around. Its to darn cold,to do anything outside. So I'll spend my weekend watching Gordon and The Tanners.

Wow -- That's great! Please let me know how you like ALF - Season 1 and how you would rate it from a 1 - 10, after you are all done watching it. I'm sure it will be very good.

About Region Free players...

Just before Ally McBeal was announced for a Region 1 release, when it looked like that was a show that would never make it to DVD uncut in the US, I bought the R2 set.

As for something to play the DVDs on, all I had to do was pick up a cheap Phillips DVD player at Wal-Mart, and I went online and found the code to make it region free.

Simple as that.

I think Warner did a wonderful job with The German version of ALF season 1. The episodes are uncut, and I also liked how the episodes are in the correct order, unlike The US sets that are all out of order.
Yeah it was so nice watching scenes that you know are missing from The Lionsgates set. Such the episode "Wild Thing" in the uncut version of that episode there is a lot more Trevor(Did I spell his name right?) Yeah we see Willie asking Trevor to babysit Lucky while ALF is going threw his crazy period.
In the episode Pennsylvania 6-5000 the opening is lot longer then the edited version. And the scene where Kate was talking to Willie at the jail cell is longer then the edited version. Yeah so mutch better the the set we have.
Yeah I thought the picture quality was pretty good too. I still dont understand why Lionsgates was claming the uncut episodes was in poor shape? Because I saw nothing wrong with the picture quality of The German version. So I rate The German set a 10. The US well gets a 0 from me.
Well going to have to order the uncut version of season 2 pretty soon from Germany. Looking forward to seeing what I have been missing from season 2.
