VH1 Cancels "Best Week Ever"
VH1 Cancels Best Week Ever
January 13, 2010 | By: Scott Harris Since its inception in 2004, VH1's Best Week Ever has brought fans a comedic recap of each week's biggest news and boldest headlines. Now they've taken on their strangest task yet: reporting their own cancellation. Yes, Best Week Ever, the showcase for unknown comedians and friends of Mo Rocca, has officially gotten the axe according to their own website, BestWeekEver.tv. "Sadly, the show that we've all come to know and love, Best Week Ever, has been canceled," the statement read. "The folks that worked on the show were some of the smartest, funniest, kindest people you could find. It was a real creative collaboration from start to finish, and in between hard work and late hours you could find real friendships and dedication. It goes without saying that each and every person who helped make Best Week Ever the success it became will move on to even bigger and brighter opportunities." Some of those opportunities, in fact, will be right on the website itself: despite the fact that the show is ending, the network plans to continue operation of BestWeekEver.tv for the foreseeable future. "On the bright side, we want to assure you that 'Best Week Ever.tv' will continue cranking out breaking news, interviews, viral videos and all the pop culture gossip the Internet is currently set to handle," the statement explained in the show's usual snarky style. "The blog will be here to nurture you, comfort you, hold your hand, and be the footsteps in your digital sand." The series, which originated as a spinoff of VH1's popular I Love the 80's specials and originally featured a revolving carousel of talking heads, brought aboard comedian and former Daily Show contributor Paul F. Tompkins as permanent host in 2008 in an attempt to bolster ratings. However, the series has been on hiatus since the summer of 2009 -- a hiatus that now sadly seems permanent. Which leaves us with just one inevitable thing to say: Paul F. Tompkins is not having the Best Week Ever. http://insidetv.aol.com/2010/01/13/v...est-week-ever/ |
