Lol Fan Does His Own Version Of "Perfect Strangers" Intro.

This Perfect Strangers fan is standing tall on the wings of his dream

I've always wanted to redo the opening of a TV show, though I can never really make up my mind which one it would be. Laverne and Shirley? Or how about T.J. Hooker? I think I could do Adrian Zmed's roll on the car hood.

This Pop Candy reader and his friend did the opening of Perfect Strangers, filming it in their city of Seattle instead of Chicago.

Can you imagine how many times they had to watch the title sequence of the show to get it just right for their version? Is that dedication, insanity, or both??

A healthy dose of both I think. I wonder what Mark Linn-Baker and Bronson Pinchot would think of this?

True, but it's probably a lot easier nowadays with mobile access to the internet. You can watch YouTube and stuff on your phone or iPod so you don't have to rely on just memory.

I don't know what they did but it's a lot easier to do today with modern tech.

Thumbs up

Here's another story about these credits:

Video of the day: The 'Perfect Strangers' intro, revisited

How many times have you seen the opening credits to Perfect Strangers?

If the answer is more than a dozen -- honestly, I've probably seen them more than 100 times -- then you must watch a shot-for-shot remake of the intro by filmmaker and Pop Candy reader Cory Calhoun.

Calhoun and his friends made the piece in Seattle, so instead of the sitcom's Chicago landmarks, you'll see things like the Space Needle and Safeco Field.

"My friend who played the new Larry looks eerily like Mark Linn-Baker," Calhoun says. (I've mentioned a few of Cory's projects over the years, including his cool anagram documentary, Ars Magna.)

Congrats on a job well done. Now we do the Dance of Joy!

Update: Cory adds that Ian Fraser, who plays Balki, deserves equal credit for the excellent graphics and editing.

This would make a nice extra IF they ever put the remaining seasons on DVD.

Let's be optimistic and say "when"! And your right this would make a very nice extra on a DVD set.
