CINCINNATI -- Jets placekicker Jay Feely did the work of two men, hitting his only field goal try from 20 yards and subbing serviceably for punter Steve Weatherford after he was sideline by an irregular heart beat.

But Bengals kicker Shayne Graham missed his only two field goal tries from 35 and 28 yards in a 24-14 playoff loss Saturday to the Jets.

Graham's 28-yard miss came with just under four minutes left in the final quarter when Cincinnati had a chance to pull within seven points. He had made 23 of 28 field goal tries in the regular season. He had made 10-11 from 20-29 yards.

"There isn't anything you can say about that," said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. "When you miss the field goal, you miss the field goal. It is a shame, and it killed us. Unfortunately, in this case, it is mostly a one-man operation, and that is the sad part of it.

"Shayne feels worse about it than anybody. Those points obviously make a big difference."

Problem is Marvin, if Carson had a good game and the WR's actually caught the football, you wouldn't have to ask Shayne to even kick a field goal...

The bottom line is that Shayne Graham is only asked to do one thing, kick field goals. And he failed to do so. So any criticism he receives is justified.

I understand that, but he should've did it in private, not in public

I agree this should have been a private conversation between coach and player. Unfortunately theses days it seems coaches and players would rather communicate through the media.

So true, I mean if anybody should've thrown themselves under a bus it should be Marvin Lewis himself, who lost both his challenge flags in the 1st quarter.

I guess when it comes to throwing people under the bus Marvin Lewis didn't really have a leg to stand on.

Now that Mike Holmgren is in the picture, it will be interesting to see how he deals with Cribbs. Cribbs signed a contract and should fullfil it. THEN when it expires, THEN negotiate!! Good grief.

I hate it when players try to renegotiate their contracts through the media. Believe me Mike Holmgren won't put up with that. I've become pretty familiar with Mr. Holmgren during his tenure in Seattle (my favorite NFL team) and he doesn't put up with that kind of garbage. He was a great hire for the Browns!

Yea that was stupid. He just wasted those challenges like it was nothing. There was plenty of blame to go around in that game.

We shall see! Mr. Holmgren has always struck me as a man who doesn't put up with any nonsense. Hopefully he can turn help things around for my Brownies.

Well he took a Seahawks team that had known little success and turned them into a Superbowl team. Of course they lost that game to the Steelers but they got there. So he does have a good track record.

Not to mention he led the Packers to the Super Bowl in 1997 and 1998 (winning in 1997). So we shall see!!
