He didnt invent or start rock and roll, but what he did to it he earned the right to be called the king.

Elvis was one of a kind, and we will never see his like again. Not many people
realize that he was a deeply religious person. Check out the DVD He Touched Me - The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley. When he and his close friends would get together, they would always sing gospel songs (almost never pop songs). In fact, all three of his Grammy Awards were for his gospel recordings. He was also very close to his mother (who also died at age 42). He was never the same after her death. Colonel Parker was both the best and worst thing to happen to him. While he brought Elvis lasting fame, he stifled his acting talent by putting him in one mediocre movie after another. I wish Elvis could have seen what was happening to him and had taken better care of himself. Perhaps he would still be with us. What a pity, and what a loss to the world, that he left us so soon. |
