Would The Division be considered a sitcom.

The Division is a drama. The definition of a sitcom is: A program that is a shortened version of a full length comedy, and in which you sit down. Sit+the beginning of Comedy=Sitcom.

Most sitcoms have those canned laugh tracks. Some sitcoms don't, but most do. Sitcoms are usually 30 minutes long, but some are 60 minutes like Love Boat and Eight Is Enough. But then again those have a bit of drama mixed in with comedy. Sometimes sitcoms tackle serious issues like All In The Family and Family Ties, and some don't like Seinfeld and NewsRadio that just have comedy. The Division is definately not a sitcom. It's 60 minutes, no laugh track and nothing amusing. You rarely see sitcom cop shows. Only show that comes to mind are Barney Miller.

You could stretch it and say Adam-12 was a sitcom. There is always something funny in every episode, but it is mostly drama.

Oh, I just remembered. Police Squad was definitely a sitcom cop show. But it was only on like 6 times.
