The year is already shaping up to be a bad one for Redmond O'Neal, who was taken into custody on drug charges while on a 24-hour leave from rehab.

Police arrested O'Neal -- son of actor Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett -- on Dec. 29 and he faces up to 6-years in prison for violating the terms of his probation, RadarOnline.com reports.

The staff of Impact, the treatment facility the 24-year-old was at, noticed O'Neal's condition when he returned from his leave.

The 24-year-old had been sent to rehab because of his previous drug arrests.

You're right Monika. Redmond is really taking after his father. Repeating all his mistakes. How sad. I'm just glad Farrah isn't here to witness this.

So am I - but on the other hand, he has to be tormented. Because of his addictions, he was unable to be with his mother when she passed on - and now he's still hurtling out of control on the road of self-destruction. Redmond is one of the only ones Farrah's dad still has (I don't know if Farrah's late sister had any kids) - so it's got to be hurting him even more to see his grandson like this. What a shame.

Yeah Farrah's Dad has been through a lot and it must be breaking his heart to see what's going on in Redmond's life. Your right that it must have been very difficult for Redmond not to be at his mothers bedside in her final moments but I would have hoped that would have inspired him to change his life for the better. Instead he seems to be moving in the opposite direction.
