Something Cathy said in this episode left me scratching my head. It's the scene where Patty and Cathy are in bed (not together
) and Patty is giving Cathy the silent treatment. Cathy tries a few jokes on Patty but Patty still refuses to talk. So Cathy gives up and says, "If you wake up in the morning with very long ears, don't blame me." What the heck does that mean? I don't think I've ever heard that expression before, and an internet search returned nothing.Any ideas?

Could she be talking about an elf?

Maybe she meant Patty was being as stubborn as a mule.

I'm still surprised that that saying doesn't turn up in an internet search. |

That line puzzles me too but Madame X's explanation sounds plausible. Oy, all those demerits - poor Richard & poor Patty!

Cathy is very even-tempered, but don't get her angry! Just ask Aunt Pauline.

Strange one. Some of their expressions, I think, were made up just for the show. Wuzza-Wuzza, for example. And, did anyone else really say ''Cuckoo" & "Byeee"?
However, could it mean this? Cathy kept talking, and Patty kept listening without commenting. Meaning her ears kept filling up with Cathy's comments and her ears were getting full? I dunno, it is a new one on me. |
