Dexter's Julie Benz to Join the 'Desperate Housewives' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Julie Benz has bounced back from her shocking Dexter departure with a major role on Desperate Housewives.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Benz — whose character, Rita, succumbed to the most horrific bubble bath in television history in last month’s Dexter finale — has been cast in the recurring role of Debbie, a stripper with a heart of gold and a Masters degree in education. When Susan offers her the chance to transition into a more legitimate career, Deb jumps at it.

Benz is booked for at least three episodes, the first of which is scheduled to air in February.

I first saw Julie in the Nick at Nite tv series "Honey I'm Home. Anyone remember that show?

I'm glad to hear it. I liked her on Dexter, and I think she'll be a nice additon to Desperate Housewives. I've vaguely heard of Hone I'm home.

I'm still a season behind on Dexter. Unfortunately I've been unable to stay spoiler free so I know what happens to her.

I know she's been on television for a while but I didn't really become a fan of hers until I saw her as "Darla" on Buffy/ANGEL.

I also believe I caught her on Roswell a few years before that.
