Default Robert Corrado

I didn't see a thread on this segment, so I thought I'd start one. This, to me, was one of the most interesting outcomes of any case profiled. This was the guy who supposedly jumped off of the Delaware bridge 6 days before he was going to face trial for drug and auto theft. His parents were on the segment swearing that he committed suicide, and an actual suicide note was found in his car that seemed authentic.

The update stated that a viewer sent the FBI a photo of Robert 9 months after he supposedly killed himself, and he was eventually tracked down and captured.

WOW!!!! Pretty remarkable actually... the police got it right this time.

Any thoughts.

That's another very underrated case that was great. The mom in that segment should go in the "horrible persons" threads. I'm pretty sure the parents knew that Corrado had faked his death and were in on it to try to get back their bail money. I thought she was fake and it really peeved me how he blamed Eric Shaw for the suicide and for "betraying" Corrado but never said anything about how his son was a crook and there was no one else to blame but himself for his troubles.

It was also chilling to me that out of the dozens of parents of missing people UM had interviewed, Mrs. Corrado was only parent who emphatically insisted that her child was dead! Not 'it looks like there's a zillion to one possibility he may be alive and I'm clinging to that tiny fragment for dear life even though the chances are he's. ..dead' but 'my son is believed to have jumped off that bridge and even though they never found the body, I know he MUST be dead!'

Good point! Your rotten son is alive, ma'am. Don't you have egg on your face!

That just proves my point that I'm sure she knew he was faking his death and was just going on to try to fool the authorities and get her bail money. I hope they lost it.

There's really not much point in me posting now because you pretty much said what I was thinking.

Perhaps she has never heard of the expression, "no honor among thieves". She not only made me wag my head, but turned my stomach too. Is it any wonder with a mother like that he turned out the way he did?

I always liked the filming of this segment. It seemed especially dark and grainy which was one of the great things about the early UM. I can't say I was surprised he was still alive. You have to laugh when they show the picture of him on the update smiling and having a great time....I always thought 'I bet he's not smiling now' (although he's probably already out of prison, lol).

His partner in crime Erik Shaw seemed pretty honest about the theft the two did. It was interesting to have his input in the segment which seemed honest. Part of the Roberts suicide note read "and Erik Shaw I'll see you in hell".

I assume he is out of prison by now but does anyone know what kind of sentence Corrado received?

The internet tells me he was super argumentative during his sentencing and got 57 months in prison.

So yeah, he's probably out by now.

Super argumentative? Do you think he told the prosecutors and judge that he would "see them in hell"?

Yes, this segment stood out! So many UM episodes where the parent(s) deny that THEIR kid committed suicide. = rather it was always a murder, never that! nor was it ever an accidental shooting?! Then comes this "bridge segment" with an arrogant, lying, car stealing son whose mommy declared him dead via suicide. Huh?! Looking back, it shows me that she knew right there he was alive. Come on lady, at least say something realistic not suspicious: "I personally think he committed suicide, but we are clinging to HOPE that our Robert did not do this". To the mom back then: don't you want to at least think positive instead of negative?!

Otherwise in all those other "so called murder/so called mysterious" segments the parents know 100% their kid did not kill themselves. They act as if the world revolves around their family only - and that no one in their family - whether it be a father or son or grandson could ever get depressed or have thoughts of ending their life. Its as if their family is perfect and never gets depressed, nor anxious, nor angry at life's unexpected challenges. I had a few suicide attempts back in 2007 in college. I regret doing those. I think your child is more likely to die via a suicide than a mysterious murder. Yes, some young adults in college or entering the workforce for the first time at age 19 get murdered. Yet its rare. Whereas suicide is also rare but its higher I think than murder because people, like myself, will get annoyed at life or hate people or experience a divorce and/or get fired from work.....then some cant handle it. We can all relate to hating life. (Only some can relate to a family member getting murdered.)
