Help with an old case...?

This case haunted me years ago when UM was still in its network run. I've never seen it since (although I wasn't a religious watcher of the Lifetime reruns...).

It involved a man who had been shot in his own home. Years later, a relative (his son maybe?) received an anonymous letter saying something to the effect of "I shot your father, now I have AIDS, please pray for me."

Does anyone know who the victim was, and whether the case was ever updated?

Can't provide anything definate but may be able to give enough details so that someone else could fill in. I believe it was a husband and wife getting ready for church, husband went back into the bedroom to treat his foot ailment. There was a gunshot and if I recall, it was ruled a suicide. Family disputed this because husband was not terribly ill, just had a foot issue and therefore had no reason to kill himself. Years later they got a note that someone came in to rob the house and was discovered by the husband who was subsequently shot. The guy that sent the letter admitted to the shooting and said he had AIDS.

His name was Robert "Bob" Derschel, and I don't know how to actually spell his last name and therefore can't search for old threads on him. Someone help me out!

This is also the one where Robert's sister-in-law met a psychic on a train several years after his death, who told her that her BIL didn't commit suicide, which caused them to look into the death again.

oh I barely remember this one, but i do remember the letter being sent. I forgot all about this case, maybe there is an update?
