Cool KISW's Top 999 Rock Songs for 2009!!!

It's that time again, when KISW 99.9 FM in Seattle plays back the Top 999 rock songs of all time, as voted on by listeners!! Any new surprises? What's at #1? Well, it might be *that song*, but we'll know for sure around New Year's Day!! It's been going on since Christmas morning at 10:AM, with stopping overnight and resuming this morning at 6:AM. Currently, Metalshop is on, so the countdown should pick up tomorrow.

So let's see what we have so far:

999. When Worlds Collide -- Powerman 5000

998. Pretty Penny -- Stone Temple Pilots

997. Original Fire -- Audioslave

996. Bound For the Floor -- Local H

977. Shadow Of the Day -- Linkin Park

976. The Enemy -- Sevendust

975. South Bound Suarez -- Led Zeppelin

If anyone wasn't aware already, Green River is considered the first "official" Seattle grunge band, in 1986, and "This Town" is considered the first official grunge "hit". Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, who went on to play in Pearl Jam, were in the band, as were Mark Arm and Steve Turner, who then went on to form Mudhoney.

Cool

929. Dream All Day -- The Posies

928. Baker Street -- Foo Fighters (cover of the Gerry Rafferty hit)

927. Through Glass -- Stone Sour

926. Get It On -- Kingdom Come

925. Black Betty -- Ram Jam

924. I Am the Bullgod -- Kid Rock

923. Remedy -- Seether

922. Ship of Fools -- Robert Plant

921. Shake Your Foundations -- AC/DC

920. Kiss Me Deadly -- Lita Ford

Even though Kingdom Come was ragged on as a "Led Zeppelin clone" band over twenty years ago, this song is actually awesome. Another great song is "What Love Can Be". Interesting fact, not only did they open the Monsters of Rock tour with Metallica, Dokken, The Scorpions, and Van Halen in 1988, but they went on to open for The Scorpions but got reprimanded repeatedly for using the Scorpions' onstage ramps without their permission and were nearly kicked off the tour. Just couldn't resist!

909. Next To You -- Buckcherry

908. Rain When I Die -- Alice In Chains

907. Summer Nights -- Van Halen

906. A.D.I.D.A.S -- KoRn

905. Sickman -- Alice In Chains

904. Ain't No Rest For the Wicked -- Cage the Elephant

903. Bang Your Head -- Quiet Riot

902. The Ballad of Jayne --L.A. Guns

901. Tall Cool One -- Robert Plant

900. Break -- Three Days Grace

Believe it or not, there are still a number of people, after 26 years, who are convinced that the title track of Quiet Riot's 1983 #1 major label debut is called "Bang Your Head", due to the catchy chorus. It is in fact called "Metal Health". DUH!!! But the good thing is that we get to hear it twice on this list.

Dude you have Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park listed twice. You have it listed at #981 and at #977.

You also have NEON KNIGHTS by BLACK SABBATH listed twice. You have it listed at #982 and at #979.

I think what happened was that when I began the list, I didn't have the official Top 999 list, because it wasn't up yet. I thought I'd give it a headstart and go by the playlist on the site that shows which songs were played when, and there was no numerical order, just the times that the songs were played. I was counting by myself what I thought was the proper numerical order of the songs, and of course, I was wrong. I can't figure out how I posted both the Linkin Park and Black Sabbath songs twice,
I must have gotten confused. But now I went by the official list and corrected it.
