Remembering Roy E. Disney - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It is with great sadness I announce that Roy Edward Disney, whose uncle Walt co-founded with father Roy Oliver what today is known as The Walt Disney Company in 1923, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at age 79.

Mr. Disney, who died of stomach cancer, was born on January 10, 1930 in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Roy O. and Edna Disney.

Roy E. began working for his uncle Walt's company as an assistant on Walt's True-Life Adventure films.

After his uncle Walt died on December 15, 1966, 10 days after turning 65 on December 5, 1966, The Walt Disney Company spent nearly 2 decades losing both money and ratings for its shows "The Wonderful World of Disney" and others--until 1984, when Michael Eisner stepped in as Chairman/CEO of Disney, replacing Ron Miller, who had taken over after his uncle Walt died.

Roy Edward Disney is survived by his 2nd wife, Leslie DeMeuse, and 4 grown children from his 1st marriage to Patricia Dailey.

At the time of his death, Roy E. Disney owned 16% of his uncle Walt's company, with the remaining 84% owned by individual stockholders.

On a personal note, I didn't know Roy E. Disney was dead until I read it on IMDB earlier this week.

On another personal note, if you want my personal opinion, not to get too far off topic, but I believe that it was 100% a ****ing mistake when the Disney company bought the Muppets from the Jim Henson Company.

I have a proposition for those of you reading this post: write to The Jim Henson Company and tell them to buy back the Muppets today.

If enough people write, then perhaps the Henson family will take into serious consideration buying the Muppets back from Disney in 2010.

Please write to the Henson family with the topic "We Want Muppets!"

^ While I agree that Disney hasn't done much with the Muppets, I have to say that the Hensons kind of dropped the ball with them, too. On the whole, I guess I'd rather they were back "home" with Jim's family, but I hope if it ever happens they'd be more creative and inventive with them than they were the last few years they owned them.

I'd rather pwn Disney's Cartoons prior to 1966 as well as some of the TV Shows so we can bring Back a Station called Vault Disney.

I just don't like Disney pwning Marvel.
