Home Improvement, Jonathan Taylor Thomas started eclipsing Tim Allen after a few seasons.

Dawson's Creek, by the last season Katie Holmes was considered the star and James Van der Beek got very little recognition.

Friends, Courteney Cox was supposed to be the star but Jennifer Aniston got most of the media attention as the show went on.

Blossom, Joey Lawrence became a teen heart throb and Miyam Bialik got very little media attention.

Kirk Cameron - from the middle of the run to the later seasons Kirk Cameron became the huge focuse of Growing Pains.

^ Yeah, that reminds me of another one. Michael J. Fox quickly became the star of Family Ties, when I imagine most would have considered either Baxter or Gross to be the de facto "stars", at least when it started out.

For awhile David Cassidy seemed to be the big focus of The Partridge Family, even sometimes outshining Shirley Jones and his TV siblings.

When Dennis Franz joined the cast on the final few seasons of Hill Street Blues, half of those final few seasons became focused on his Lt. Norman Buntz character and his sidekick Sid "The Snitch." Heck, even after HSB ended MTM immediately gave them their own short-lived dramedy Beverly Hills Buntz.
