Post Recap of last night's annual presentation for Nick at Nite, includes Un-Real-a-Thon

Nick at Nite Unveils Addition of 'Cheers,' 'Family Ties' and 'The Cosby Show' - Complete with Celebrated TV Performers - AT Annual Upfront Presentation in New York on May 14th!

Kelsey Grammer, George Wendt, John Ratzenberger, John Ritter, James Burrows and Isaac Hayes On-Hand to Celebrate Nick at Nite's 100% Un-Reality Programming!

Nick at Nite -- the network known for
"all sitcoms, all nite long" -- gathered some of the most recognized names in
the history of television tonight as the network unveiled its campaign for its
"100% sitcom" line-up for the 2001-2002 season before a crowd of
500 advertisers in New York City. Actors Kelsey Grammer, John Ratzenberger,
George Wendt and John Ritter joined the network's new voice-over artist, Isaac
Hayes, Nick at Nite executives and "Cheers" co-creator and executive producer,
James Burrows, on-stage as the network announced the addition of "Cheers,"
"Family Ties" and "The Cosby Show" to the network's line-up in the coming
months.
"Cheers" star Ted Danson also joined the presentation -- via satellite --
in the star-studded event. With the exception of Danson, the "Cheers"
performers and Burrows were assembled on a replica of the bar used in the
series, where they discussed their feelings about working on the show and
being a part of one of the most celebrated sitcoms in television history.
Burrows, who along with Glen Charles and Les Charles created and executive
produced "Cheers" for NBC in 1982, donated the entire "Cheers" library, which
was recently digitally re-mastered, to The Museum of Television & Radio on
behalf of the show's distributor, Paramount Television Group. Dr. Robert
Batscha, President of The Museum of Television & Radio accepted on behalf of
The Museum. "Cheers" debuts on Nick at Nite with a week-long marathon
celebration beginning Sunday, September 30, 2001.
The network also discussed plans to make room in the nightly line-up for
"Family Ties," kicking off with a week-long marathon celebration on September
23, 2001. Nick at Nite also announced the addition of "The Cosby Show," the
immensely popular family sitcom that dominated the ratings throughout the
1980s, which will join the network roster of hit sitcoms beginning in March,
2002.
Nick at Nite -- which along with its daytime programming sibling,
Nickelodeon, has held the distinction as the highest-rated basic cable network
on a total day basis since 1995 -- made several additional programming
announcements this evening. In addition to "Cheers," "Family Ties" and
"The Cosby Show," Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite Executive Vice President and
General Manager, Cyma Zarghami, expressed the network's 100% sitcom
programming strategy, reminding attendees of the value and popularity of the
"unreality" reflected in the programming seen nightly on Nick at Nite. For
the first time in nine years, Nick at Nite will not present summer programming
under the umbrella "Block Party Summer" in order to make way for "Un-Reality
Summer: Un-Real-a-Thon" which debuts on Sunday, July 1 and continues through
Thursday, August 30th. Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Some of the blocks include " 'Andy Griffith' Sundays," " 'I Love Lucy' Mondays," " 'Three's Company' Tuesdays," " 'Brady Bunch' Wednesdays" and " 'Diff'rent Strokes' Thursdays."

Is this the final decision on which shows will be in the summer marathon?

And does the marathon only run Sunday-Thursday?

Does this mean that Facts of Life will not be in this summers marathon?

I guess so. Maybe nothing on Friday or Saturday, last year they had a Party Crasher for Fridays. Maybe they will have it again. We will have to wait and see until a whole press release is JUST on the Un-Real-a-Thon.
I don't expect a PArty Crasher Friday this year since N@N starts at 10PM on Fridays, but you never know...

Hopefully they'll clean up their schedule a little bit. If they are going to do this "Totally 80s" thing, great, but then I hope that means that we say goodbye to the thousand episodes of Lucy and Gilligan that we get in a week. If they're going to do it, they need to do it right.

I have mixed feelings about The Cosby Show. I never found it that great.

The Cosby Show is okay, but not good enough to be on N@N.[IMO]

I wish they would have FOL on the Un-Real-A-Thon.

Do you think they will have FOL on early of in the morning. Like at 4AM like they used to?
