One of my all-time favorite Christmas episodes. I love the idea of an evil robot Santa who terrorizes the people he judges to be naughty. (Unfortunately, that's everybody.)
We also got a nice little glimpse into the Fry/Leela relationship. Bender- "Im one of those poor, lazy robots I hear so much about." |

I liked that one a lot, too. I loved that the only person in the crew who wasn't judged "naughty" was the hapless Dr. Zoidberg (who for once, ultimately proved to be the hero by dispatching the evil Santa).
I love the Professor running around nude (as a joke, not as an image!), the whole "Xmas" thing, the Tiny Tim robot, Bender at his (almost) worst, John Goodman as the Santa, and the ledge's stern warning "no banana peels!"

The follow-up episode, A Tale of Two Santas, is also pretty funny. I would have loved to see Santa finally defeated, but I guess the writers figured the show would go on longer, so they didn't do that.

Santa also showed up in one of the Futurama movies; I think it was "Bender's Big Score".

I haven't even seen those movies yet. I'll get around to watching them one of these days
Are they as good as the series?

Well, I love the show and was happy to see anything with the characters, but in general I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure the show lends itself to a movie format that well, and I think the creators tried a little too hard to pack everything (and everyone) into each movie, thinking at the time that they would pretty much be the end of the show.
However, I do think they were worth checking out; I think I liked "Bender's Game" the best of the four. |
