Just last week the 2009 Black List was officially unveiled, and at the top of the list was a script called The Muppet Man, a biopic about Jim Henson. Some 47 different producers and execs around Hollywood chose it as one of their favorite screenplays of 2009 and apparently it's an amazing script (according to others like Brendon Connelly of SlashFilm). But will it ever get made? Since the Black List was announced, two articles have popped addressing this issue - the first one in the LA Times, the second one on SlashFilm. There's an interesting story behind how writer Christopher Weekes wrote the script and what it specifically contains.

Brad Pitt as Jim Henson!?? NO!!! Brad Pitt isn't even fit to shine Jim Henson's shoes.

I really don't know who should play him - maybe they should try to get an unknown. That might be the best thing.

WOW!! I didn't release how strong the resemblance is!

Now that I think of it, I think Jeff Daniels has both the look and the acting chops to pull it off.

Plus, Jim Henson was such a respected and beloved human being, as well as a pop culture icon. I should think Jeff Daniels or any other actor would be honored to step into his shoes. We shall see!!

I dunno. I thought about Daniels, too; the resemblance is definitely therre, and he's obviously a very good actor.

But...I don't see him having the requisite whimsy and gentleness of Henson. I was thinking that Robin Williams might be a decent choice (though he's older now that Henson was when he passed), but he'd have to have a director that could reel him in!

Oh gosh...I don't even WANT to imagine Robin Williams playing Jim Henson!!
