There was a clip on a Steve Lawrence Special where Lucy talked
about filming the " Marineland " episode and how long it took. Does anyone know what Goodtimes release that this was shown in? Thanks for the reply!! p.s. that water MUST have been cold! |

Don't know, but I hope they don't stop The Lucy Show seasons on dvd after season 3. Though the Viv years are my favorites, I'm anxious for the Marineland episode! |

...it wasn't a "Steve Lawrence Special". Lucy appeared as Steve's guest on the first telecast (September 13, 1965) of "THE STEVE LAWRENCE SHOW", a short-lived variety series he headlined on CBS' Monday night schedule [10-11pm(et)], of which he later said, "Unfortunately, the ratings weren't there {he was opposite NBC's "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE" and ABC's "THE BIG VALLEY", both in color, while he was only seen in black and white}. And after 13 weeks...neither was I". She brought along "outtakes" from her first show of the season ["Lucy At Marineland"], which was telecast earlier that evening.

I have this Steve Lawrence show on VHS somewhere, with the original commercials and all, and it's actually one of my favorite Lucille Ball appearances I've seen. The entrance ("We love you, Lucy, oh yes we do") is great, but the highlight for me isn't the outtakes but when a montage of classic "Lucy" photos are shown (from 1951 to current) and Lucy and Steve sing a great "Hey Look Me Over!"

"Hey, Look Me Over!", of course, was Lucy's "show-stopper" in her 1960-'61 Broadway musical, "Wildcat".
