Oh No Courtney Love Loses Legal Control of Daughter

Courtney Love is losing control. But this time it involves her most precious possession: her daughter.

A Los Angeles court has appointed temporary guardians over Frances Bean, 17, although the reasons are not immediately clear. Kurt Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor and his younger sister, Kimberly, now have legal, medical and financial authority over the teenager. A court hearing on the matter has been scheduled for February 10.

"This doesn't necessarily mean that Courtney Love is an unfit mother and has completely lost custody," says L.A. probate attorney Jeffrey S. Cohen, who's not involved with the case. "It's too early to say. It could be because she's simply going out of state for a long period of time."

Geraldine Wyle, a lawyer for Frances Bean and the two guardians, said only, "This is a private family matter." A rep for Love, 45, wasn't immediately available for comment.

In past interviews, Frances Bean has made it clear that she is not like her parents. She told Harper’s Bazaar last year that her paternal grandmother, who lives in Olympia, Wash., has been a constant force in her life. "She's probably the person I respect most out of anybody in the world," she told the magazine.

I know this sounds mean, but I'm surprised it's taken this long for Courtney to lose custody of her daughter. In any case, I wish the whole family the best and hope Courtney can get the help she needs.

I was thinking the same thing. Something really must be wrong with Courtney if they're taking away custody of her daughter, who will be a legal adult in one more year!

Exactly - Frances just turned 17 in August.

It sounds to me like Francis' family wants to protect the girl's money from Mom. Let's face it, Courtney hasn't been doing much lately, and i'm sure she's probably burned through whatever money she's made.

Good point - can't say I blame them.

Courtney Love Lashes Out At Frances Bean on Facebook
Dec. 16th, 2009
by John D. Luerssen

In the ongoing saga of Courtney Love's troubles, the former Hole singer took to Facebook to speak out about temporarily losing guardianship of Frances Bean Cobain, her 17-year-old daughter with the late Kurt Cobain.

Wendy O'Connor and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, the Nirvana frontman's mother and sister, were granted provisional guardianship last Friday at the minor's request.

Frances Bean was on the receiving end of her mother's Facebook missive after seeking to live with her father's next of kin.

"I hate to sound cold but any kid of mine who pulls this s--- has lost her position," Love wrote. "She was deceptive, she lied and she's lying to herself. My daughter is not always honest."

Despite that criticism, Courtney thinks much of her daughter's troubles should be blamed on negative influence. "Frances is a wonderful kid," Love added.

"She's got bad people around her and wants it both ways. You could've asked for emancipation ... you realise this will put you in juvenile family circus three times in your little life? I love you and always will unconditionally."

Maybe so but that doesn't stop Love from suggesting her daughter is being had. "She thinks she has all this money. The point is I have all the money she has," Courtney insisted.

"Frances is clearly deluded that she can buy her grandmother a small house in L.A. I'd love to see how that works. They'll incubate her 'til she's 18 and then have her sign all the indnemofications [sic]."

After many responses, Love later added, "To Frannie's worried friends, she's not stupid. She trusted the wrong people and got snookered into a circus. She'll figure out what a ridiculous mess she's in and she's smart.

She'll have to work really hard and she's not used to it but I have faith. She's my daughter and I love her. Cruelty is not what she's about."

^ Typical response from the paranoid and delusional Courtney Love.

As usual, she's not the one with the problem; everyone is out to get her, now even her own daughter has turned on her!

Blah blah blah... we've heard this before.

I hate to say it, but Courtney is probably right: there is no money waiting for her daughter in some trust fund. Francis' crazy Mom has burned through that money.

You guys just about covered it. Im surprised she wasn't taken away at birth. It's no secret that both of her parents were/are drug users. She has been with this woman all her life. Taking her away at age 17 isn't gonna change anything. The damage is done.
