Default My Sister's Keeper

One thing that I have no problem admitting is that I am really addicted to the Internet in general and this site in particular! However, I realize that if I am here all of the time looking for new posts, it will seem to take forever to see any results. That is why, on this very day, I forced myself to devote a large chunk of time to doing something different! The activity that I did was watch a full-length movie on my DVD player. The movie was "My Sister's Keeper". By the way, I thought that the movie was great! One thing that went on in the movie was that the word disgusting was used three times. Every time I hear the word disgusting, it always takes me back to what Julie said about Katie's behavior with the boy from the protest in "Samantha's Protest"! Julie's sense of decency and sophistication will probably never fail to fill me up! On top of this, the site of her in that beautiful blue skirt will probably live in my mind for the rest of my natural life!

I have not had a chance to see this movie yet.
I've wanted to see it since I saw the previews.

If you have a DVD player than this film will probably in in the New Relaease section of whatever outlet you rent or buy from. I thought that the movie was great! I would be very interested in your opinion after you have seen it. Also, in my initial post, I mentioned how, whenever I here the word disgusing, it always takes me back to Julie's words of wisdom at the protest. Well, believe it or not, it happened again today! I had some time in between my laundry and supper so I flicked on the "Boomerang" Network. I ended up watching "Casper's Christmas" which was a TV special from the early eighties. Casper did not condone the behavior of his house-mate Hairy Scary and he referred to it as disgusting. Because of how long it has been since there has been a post here by anyone other than me, I figured that the odds of there being one tonight were pretty slim. This being the case, I planned on starting a new thread called "Hairy Scary" in which I would share this experience. However, now that I see that there is this new post (as well as your response to my other thread) no new thread is nessisary!

I usually borrow DVDs from the local library, but it's always out.
I'll see it eventually.

I find it very impressive that the library in your district has DVDs released as recently as this one! The fact that it is constantly out is probably because of how new it is. On top of this, because of the recession, a lot of people probably do not have the money to rent DVDs so they play the library for all it is worth. However, as time goes on and new movies come out, the novelty of this one should wear off and you will be able to borrow it. That is unless, the recession hits your area so hard that the library dose not have the money to buy anything new and this remains one of the newest in stock for a long time to come! Let us hope that things do not get that bad!

I noticed that, in the short while in between the time that I brought the last thread to the top of the page and the present, it has already gained several new views. This lets me see that the members are out there! Because of this, I am going to see what happens if I raise this one to the top. Because this movie is still going strong in DVD rentels, I am hoping that other fans will be intrigued by the title of the thread. Let us see what happens!

In the first post in this thread you mentioned Julie's sense of decency and sophistication. These are qualities that I always found attractive in Julie. One of the reasons she was always my favorite Kinisky sister!

Like always, I am very happy to meet another Julie fan! You said that you always admired her sense of decency and sophistication. Well what do her think of her behavior in the particular episode that I mentioned? In the first place I thought is was halarious when she and Katie walked through the front door and she spoke the words "he was not whisteling at you, he was calling his dog"! Remember, at the protest, when Nell commanded all of the protesters to lock arms? Katie capatolized on these instructions by grabbing both of the handsome boy's arms with both of hers and snuggled up to him! I thought it was great when Julie used her free arm to grab one of Katie's arms, spin her around and said "Like this Katie"! She then turned toward Nell and said "that is absolutely disguesting"! I also thought it was very clever of Samantha to tell Katie that the boy said that he never thought he would meet a girl who he wanted to date in jail. While Katie was salivating Samantha said that he was taking her to a movie the next day! I thought that the smile on Julie's face at this point was priceless!

I believe Julie was also the smartest of the Kinisky sisters. She knew exactly what Katie was up to when she linked arms with the handsome boy at the protest and she knew exactly how to correct the situation. And when Samantha announced that she had a date with the handsome boy she realized Katie had been "put in her place" and she was smart enough to keep her mouth shut and show her pleasure with a smile. A very pretty smile!

I am very amazed with how similar our views about the situation are! If I did not know better, I would think that you were my twin brother! Also, you seem to have a very vivid memory of the episode. Being that it has not been syndicated here for quite a few years, I doubt that in is still shown in Canada. I also happen to know that only the first two seasons are available on DVD. The episode is, however, up on "Youtube". It got uploaded by a friend that I found on this very page. Is this were you got reaquainted with it? Another possibility is that, back when it was still on, you recorded it on a VCR tape and still happen to have it.

Because of how slow the boards are again and because I really have nothing to add to the last thread posted, I have decided to bring this one up to the top and see if I can start some conversation. I would like to offer a new idea to the equation. We already covered how Katie received poetic justice for her disgusting behavior. Well, let us go back to the first scene with her and Julie. It looked like they were carrying items from the dry clearners. While they were on their way home, they passed the handsome boy who they would meet up with later that day. Katie felt giddy and daydreamed about a date with him. While he was whistleing to call his dog, Katie's sense of optimism caused her to believe that he was whistleing at her because she was so sexy! Julie was disgusted by Katie's attitude. Well, I think that time that Katie spent letting her hormones and her egotism run away with her is time that she should have spent being thankful to have a lovely sister like Julie to run her errends with! What to you guys think?

You bring up an interesting point Smartboy. Katie had a tendency to be self centered and because of that I don't think she appreciated her family as much as she should have. And this was probably especially true of her sisters as you mentioned in your post.

Because I am having absolutley no success in stimulating any conversation with any of my new ideas, I have decided to bring this one back to the top. For the record, so far this sitting, in addition to posting a new thread here, I also did so on the pages of "Caroline in the City" and "Mad About You". The last time I checked, they both had two views and zero responses. Because I did not watch the Acadamy Awards, I do not know if "My Sister's Keeper" won anything. In my opinion, it certaintly deserved to! I am thinking that, by bringing it to the top of the page, I might be able to intrigue people with the title to the point to where they will want to read what it is all about. Let us see what happens!

Because of how much I enjoyed the movie that this thread was named after, I decided to bring it to the top of the page. It is the third thread that I am bringing to the top of this page during this sitting. It is all in an attempt to stimulate some conversation about this fine series!

Because I do not seem to be getting anywhere by starting any conversation with new posts, I am going to revert back to brining old posts to the top of the page. This is the first of three threads that I plan on doing this with during this sitting.
