In the "See You in C-U-B-A" Episode, Farrah Fawcett's character's name is Tina. In the "My Sister, the Home Wrecker" eppie it's Cindy. At the 4:09 mark in "My Sister...", Roger goofed and said her name is Tina.
Has anyone else heard this error? |

....Farrah, who was under contract to Screen Gems/Columbia at the time, had previously appeared as "Tina" in "See You In C-U-B-A". In the episode in question, she was obviously supposed to have portayed a different character [as depicted in the script]. But Bill Daily still remembered her as "Tina" from the previous one (apparently, he didn't stop thinking about her, as he later recalled her guest appearances to Stephen Cox), and identified her as such in his dialogue. Sidney Sheldon just didn't have the time for him to "loop" her new character's name in post-production...everything about the fifth season seemed a bit "rushed" and "cheap"; remember "Mr. Gelber", the "dealer in used recyclables", in "The Mad Home Wrecker"? In the closing credits, his character's name was misspelled as "Belber"; again, there just wasn't time to notice these slight mistakes....

Bill adored working with Farrah Fawcett. The two of them went on to do a pilot for a show that wasn't picked up, called "Inside O.U.T.," in 1971 or 1972. When she died this past summer, I sent Bill a set of print outs from screen captures that I'd done of the Farrah episodes of IDOJ, as well as a couple that I snagged from "Inside O.U.T". He PHONED me to say thanks, and I was treated to his personal recollections of working with Farrah. Farrah was one of Bill's favorite female costars!

...was originally produced for consideration for NBC's 1971-'72 schedule, and was presented as a trio of "busted" Screen Gems pilots (including Larry Hagman's "THE GOOD LIFE", which did sell), "Three In One", featuring Dan Rowan & Dick Martin as hosts, on March 22, 1971. NBC also rebroadcast the pilot in early 1977 because of Farrah's sudden success on "CHARLIE'S ANGELS", and it was shown again [with the other pilots from 3/22/71] on "THE CBS LATE MOVIE" in 1984. It looked like a good idea (a spoof of "MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE"), and who knows what may have happened had NBC bought it...yeah, Bill had a real crush on Farrah!

Unfortunately I buy so many shows on DVD and never take the time to watch them..I have the first 2 seasons of "Jeannie" on DVD.."Roger" was always one of my favorite characters..From watching some of the season one extras, one can tell that he was always grateful to work as an actor..Seems like a real down to earth, friendly "regular" type guy..Not a prima donna type at all..

Gosh, we've got a bunch of shows on DVD and we *do* watch them. I think we've seen most of the ones we own at least 5 or 6 times. My husband creates his own private marathons of whatever show he wants to watch - whether it's Adam-12, Gilligan's Island, The West Wing, Emergency, Benson (where are the rest of the seasons!), or whatever.
And Bill is definitely a down-to-earth type person. He will also talk your ear off if you'll let him! (And I did, but my ear is still attached to my head.) Bill's "fan club president", Donna |
