Help me remember this case

Hey folks!
I'm a new poster here, so forgive me if this information is already located in the vast array of threads going on here.
There's a case I remember seeing once when I was a kid but have never seen again. I only remember bits and pieces but it was really scary.

It was about this elderly couple. One day the husband went out and when he came back home, he found that his wife was tied to a chair or something and she had been knockd out and possibly the house was robbed. And the person(s) who did it wrote this note all across their living room wall (I forgot what it said). And she didn't remember who did it or what happened really. And then they started getting harassed all the time, I think by letters left on their porch. So one night, they got together with some family members or neighbors, and staked out the porch. I remember that they all had walkie talkies and were hiding in different places adjacent to the house like in the motor home, ready to leap into action when they saw this person trying to leave and letter, and then they heard a loud thump at the porch and they ran there and saw a letter sitting there, but they didn't see anyone leave it. (creepy!) So anyway, they never got to the bottom of who was leaving these letters and I don't remember what the letters were demanding from them, just that suspicion was falling on the husband for some reason.
But they were interviewed together and the wife didn't think it was him at all.

Does anyone remember this case?
