Question Mr. Monk and the End - What did you think?

I'm posting this prematurely because I haven't even watched the first half of this 2 part episode yet, but I thought I'd start a topic anyway. I waited because I wanted to watch both parts together. I'm still scratching my head as to why they didn't just do a two-hour finale. I haven't been real happy with "Monk" since Stanley Kammel died, but I'm sure I'm going to get that sinking feeling in my stomach as the final credits roll. I always get that way whenever I watch the final episode of a show-no matter what show it is.

I'll be back after I watch the finale!

I loved it. And yes I did cry.

The only problem I had with it, is that it ended. It means no more new episodes of Monk. Even with the decrease in quality, I still loved the characters. I will miss the show.

The other thing I can say about it, is thank you to the cast and crew. Thank you for 8 wonderful seasons.

I thought it was great, especially part 1. One of the funniest moments in the entire series was when it took about 20 doctors and nurses to hold down Monk and attempt to take his blood. I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes. I loved the chase scene with Stottlemeyer. I thought it was as good as any chase scene you'd see in the movies. The way they wrapped it up was great too. I don't think they could have done a better job. I totally wasn't expecting Monk to become a father, nor was I expecting Disher to move to New Jersey and be with Sharona even though they did date in that episode where Sharona returned. Loved the tribute at the end.

As much as I'm going to miss this show, I think it was the right time to end it. There really wasn't much more they could have done with the characters. The past few seasons though always watchable, weren't as memorable as earlier seasons except for a handful of episodes. Even then it was still better than just about every show on tv. I'll continue to watch Psych, but Friday nights will never be the same.

Thumbs up

Well, I couldn't stand the suspense anymore, so I watched it. I'm actually glad that I waited to watch both episodes back to back. I was really worried that they were going to disappoint me, but I was SO wrong. I don't think my husband was too impressed, but I really liked it!

When the doctor told Adrian about the vomiting then death, I loved how Adrian was more worried about the vomiting, and the doctor kept repeating "and then death". That was hilarious!

Oh my God, that chase scene was fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat (or pillow, rather, since I was in bed!), watching that. Just amazing work by the actor and Ted Levine (Leland). At times I wondered if they used a stunt double, but I think it was all them. Very cool how the guy kept jumping from train to train.

Loved Adrian opening the pill capsule and separating the colors before taking them! I never thought to do that!

Adrian opening Trudy's present was just... so emotional. I'm not really happy about her having had this big dark secret, but when my husband told me about that (I swore him to his own secrecy not to tell me what that secret was), I thought it was going to be much worse than it was. So on that note, I was a bit disappointed, probably because I'd been bracing myself for something monumental. I am SO glad I watched both episodes back to back, though. I would have been a basket case if I had to wait a week.

Natalie's scenes with Monk were very sweet; especially the way she was taking care of him.

I loved Adrian's reaction to seeing Molly for the first time. It was funny because she didn't even have to introduce herself. Very sweet how they connected so well. It's like he found a long lost daughter. I love the way they did that.

My only thing is that I guess I didn't pay much attention to the Sharona episode because I don't remember her and Randy dating. I would have liked to have seen that, actually. She avoided his "crush" on her for so long, that it just seemed kind of weird that he was moving in with her already.

One thing that was missing from this episode was, in fact Sharona. She would have been perfect to be there taking care of Adrian, considering the fact that she's a nurse. But I've always liked Natalie, and I love how she cares for him so much.

I'm glad they ended it with them on another case. I hate when shows just "end". I hope that makes sense. I thought it was going to end with that beach scene which would have been nice, but I think the ending was appropriate. Kind of ended the way it started; with Adrian on the case.

One thing I wish they would have done was have Leland give Monk Randy's job. He wanted to be back on the force and I was really disappointed with that episode from before. I know he realized that he really didn't like it as much as he thought and that he missed being a private detective, but it would have been nice to see.

All in all, I liked it, though and after a couple of disappointing seasons, I was happy with the ending.

That was very well said! Oh by the way, I saw the most hilarious commercial for Psych during the Monk finale. Sean and Gus were doing their "Hall and Oats" version of "Private Eyes" Unless I read it wrong, it said that they are moving the show to Wednesday nights. Just thought you'd like to know that. I thought for sure they would put it in Monk's time slot. Hope USA knows what they are doing.

I saw part of that commercial. That was pretty funny. Thanks for letting me know. Yeah I assumed they would have moved it to 9:00 PM and moved Burn Notice to Fridays at 10. That would have been a great lineup. I don't know how it will do on Wednesdays, but I guess the the show has been on long enough so the ratings shouldn't suffer too much. I'm just going to have to remember to watch it.
