Anyone remember "General Hospital" in the early 80s with those ridiculous action/adventure plots? The Prometheus Disk, The Aztec Treasure, The Ice Princess, The Malkuthian Helmet and Sword of Ishkandar. Luke and Laura, Robert and Holly, Frisco and Felicia. And the plots were always wrapped up with a couple of weeks of location footage. Really silly, but a lot of fun.

All My Children, Port Charles, General Hospital, One Live To live. I have beeen a fan of the ABC soaps since the mid-late 80's! First i started watching GENERAL HOSPITAL in like, 1986, i watched but was really, really hooked until like 1992( when Felicia was on the run from the law and was being accused of murdering ryan chamberlind), next came One life to live, which i started watchn in the early 90's, back then it was great, right about the time that Marty was raped, and the hwole thing with vicki's multiple personalities... the dorian sleeping with joey thing, just brillant, i stopped watching after marty left, cause the show became horrible and unwatchable, until the whole thing with Vicki's breast cancer, that is when i started watching again.. and now i am hooked more than ever, the whole jessica/natalie storyline has me rivited, as well as the long awaited returns of Fiona hutchison as the evil, Gabrielle Median and Tuc Watikns as David Vickers (one of my all-time favoriet actors, he was great on GH's Pierce Dorman). Next was ALL MY CHILDREN, which i started watching in about 1991, when Kendell harte was introduced and was just riviting! Then i started watching abc's classic soap LOVING/THE CITY, which in my opinon was even better thansome of the other soaps of its day! when it was canceled i almost died. when PC premiered i was still bitter about the loss of LOVING/THE CITY, but i still watched it and was hooked right away! i stopped watching when Eve and Keving started dating and didn't watch again until, the whole PORT CHARLES: FATE thing, but the never really held my attention, until TAINTED LOVE, that story is just amazing, and tmepted is even better, just great! Emmy worthy performances from micheal easton, and the girl that plays livvie! thats about all! for primetime i like, knots landing, savannah, dynasty, models inc, 90210, melrose place, and Malibu shores!

Mine is Days of Our Lives. I got hooked back in 1994, when Marlena was possessed. Some people thought Days went down the tubes at that point, but I thought it was a great storyline. In my opinion, from 1994 until May of 1998, Days was at it's best. It seemed like everyday had a cliffhanger that kept you at the edge of your seat. However, since 1998, the show has been slipping in the edge of your seat catergory. The new writers made all of the youngsters, toddlers and babies all grow up over night. Characters that were born in 1985, 1993 and 1994 were all suddenly the same age and in high school. What's even worse is that the teens seem to be what the writers focus on the most while minimizing all the veteran characters. However, despite that stupid move, Days occasionally has it's good moments, especially during February, May and November sweeps.

It was a long and involved storyline that began in December of 1994. There were strange happenings in Salem. A vandal torched the city Christmas tree and some Christmas gifts to homeless children and later desecrated the church. On Christmas eve, while everyone was at church, Marlena was in her apartment levitating. That was just a small part of the story, there were events that occurred in 1993 and 1994 that lead to Marlena vulnerable to the devil. The storyline continued until July of 1995. Overall, Deidre Hall did a good job. She wore contacts, makeup and they altered her voice to make her look and sound possessed.

Oh that sounds very interesting I can't believe I missed that! Darn it! So it was just Marlena who had the supernatural storyline around, did any of the other main characters get involved with it?

Well, John was searching for his past and discovered that he had been a priest in the past, so he joined the seminary. He's the one the devil focused on. By constantly tempting him by using Marlena's body. Kristin (before the DiMeira curse turned her evil) knew something was wrong and became convinced Marlena was possessed and was determind to prove it. A priest, Father Francis new evil was coming to Salem in 1994 and led the way to an exorcism along with John in 1995. Celeste sensed evil in Salem and warned Stefano not to pursue Marlena. (Stefano was obsessed with Marlena and was determind to make her his. He had bought the apartment next door and rigged her armoire so he could enter her apartment at night and drugged her with mind altering drugs which led her on nightly outings. Marlena was guilty over her affair with John, resulting in Belle's conception and a divorce from Roman, plus she was not getting any sleep. This made her open to possession.) While possessed, the devil played games with all the lives in Salem. Encouraging Sami to pursue Austin, despite the fact that he was with Carrie, threatening Caroline who was helping in the exorcism, conjouring up Isabella to tempt John, and bringing Curtis back from hell to get Tony to help the devil.

I still can't think of the whole two Romans thing without laughing out loud. For the uninitiated: Roman was a cop, and when the popular actor who originally played him left the show, they recast him with the old plastic surgery/amnesia explanation. The second actor became very popular, too. But then they brought the first Roman back, and the second Roman stayed on the show! What's even funnier is that a couple of years ago, they recast the role again, this time with an actor who played a different character on the show around the same time the original Roman started. Too funny.
