Has anyone ever watched this show? I never have, but am dying to. I have read so much about it. And just when it sounds interesting to me, TNN takes it off the schedule. I wish i would come back sometime soon. That would rule!

"Dallas" is a product of its time (the 80s), but is still a lot of fun to watch in reruns. I was disappointed when TNN took it off -- I was getting to see episodes I hadn't seen since it was on in first-run on CBS.

If and when you get a chance to see it, the early days are the best. The middle years are decent, but avoid any episode from the later seasons (10-13) when Victoria Principal is absent.

I agree with you TV Guy! The earlier episodes were great! My friday nights were scheduled around this show! I never missed an episode.But sadly, like so many other series it went on way too long! I gave up on it during the last year or 3 !They started bringing in too many new unappealing characters.

Yeah, I remember catching a few shows from the last couple of years, and I couldn't figure out who everyone was. The reunions were disappointing too -- too few original cast members and too many newcomers. They reminded me of the last couple of years of the series.

My main problem with the later years is the Pam character. She became a wimp. At the end of the first episode, J.R. says (after Pam foils one of his plots), "It seems like I've underestimated the new Mrs. Ewing. I won't make that mistake again." Too bad the writers didn't stay true to this -- Pam became completely spineless, and J.R. was constantly manipulating her. And the way she was written off (she abandons Bobby and her son after an accident) was totally untrue to her character.

Still, the show was a lot of fun in its prime. Someone, bring this back!

Dallas was the best primetime serial drama the 80's had! I miss it very much! TNN or some other cable network needs to bring it back ASAP!!!!

Dallas went downhill when Bobby returned from the dead and it was explained that the previous season never happened.

As silly as the dream explanation was, the season that followed was actually the last good season of "Dallas". Most of the original cast was present, Bobby and Pam were remarried, and there was a question of whether Jock was still alive. Unfortunately, Victoria Principal left at the end of the season (along with Susan Howard), and the show never recovered. They lost more and more major cast members every year after that. And the plots became convoluted and repetitive (Ewing Oil changed hands so many times it was ridiculous).

With the departure of Linda Gray, Susan Howard and Victoria Principal the show suffered in the ratings. The last season when J.R. married Callie was just stupid. I could handle Bobby marrying April because at least April had been around for a few seasons prior, but Callie just "appeared" and the next thing we viewers witnessed was a shotgun wedding!

I never liked the idea of Bobby and Jenna together, but I also never liked Ray and Jenna together, either. Basically, I never liked Jenna. Her jealousy of Pam was borderline obsessive and very sickening.

I was thrilled when Miss Ellie married Clayton, though. I loved seeing Clayton chop J.R. down at the knees!!! But, the best thing about Clayton was that he never let Jock's memory stand in the way. He respected Jock for what he was to the family and never tried to take his place. After that portrait of Jock was removed from the house and placed in the offices of Ewing Oil, Clayton truly became the head of the house.

I would love to see "Dallas" back on cable somewhere....TNN perhaps.....hint, hint....

I liked Dallas, it was a good show, but I don't consider it to be a drama really. I mean when you hire a person like Jenilee Harrsion to be a main cast member of the show, you know that's it not your average drama.

I liked Clayton a lot too. I think the producers could have gotten more mileage out of him, though, if he had been positioned as more of a direct business rival of Ewing Oil. Ellie always hated it when Jock talked business around the table -- imagine how interesting it would have been for Clayton and J.R. to be at each other's throats during the day, and then have to sit down to dinner together each night. You could tell during the last couple of seasons that the writers really didn't know what to do with Clayton (or Ellie, for that matter).

This is what is called as "Jumping the
Shark"Dallas was too good of show to be corrupted like this! But I guess when cast members decide to leave, the viewer has to accept this junk!

Tina Louise played Julie Grey, J.R.'s first secretary that we the audience ever saw. If you remember, J.R. gets his long running secretary, Sly, a couple years later. This is what happened to Julie during the time she was on (1978-1979), Julie was having one night stands with J.R. and got tired of him treating her like a hooker, so she secretly gave a secret red file to J.R.'s arch-rival, Cliff Barnes. After that, she left Dallas, but returned in the spring of 1979 and almost began an affair with Jock, J.R.'s dad. In her final episode, Julie was being chased by some goons that J.R. had some dirty business dealings with. In the end, she fell off of Cliff Barnes' apartment building and to her death.

I loved the seasons from 1986-1989 because Sue Ellen got stronger and finally was able to beat J.R. at his own game and I thought she was just awesome in the reunion movies.
I liked Cally, I thought that stupid Michelle ws good too. Vicotria Principal and Pricsilla Pressley chose not to do the reunion movies.

I never got to see the show but I'm dying to see it. I'm a huge fan of I Dream of Jeannie and with the show's main character J.R. being played by Larry Hagman the same man that played Anthony Nelson on Jeannie, I'd like to watch him play the most hated man in Dallas. Also, Barbara Eden (A.K.A. Jeannie) played Lu Ann La De Vega, J.R.'s boss and I would love to see them play different roles together. Can anybody tell me what happens between Lu Ann and J.R. ?
