Did you like the original Star Trek series, or the new one?

I liked the original series the best! The characters were great, and the story lines were always amusing!

The Next Generation has always been my favorite. It was the one that made me a fan of Star Trek.

"Next Generation" is the one that made me a fan as well. I liked "Voyager" as well (most Trekkers would disagree with me), mostly because I thought Kate Mulgrew was great as the captain.

I grew up watching TNG (I'm 17 now) but my fave is DS9. TOS is great too, and Voyager was so-so.

Don't get me started on that "Voyager" finale! What a wasted opportunity! There was so much story potential there. Was there an investigation into Janeway's actions that got them stranded in the first place? What happened with the boyfriend who dumped her a few seasons into the series? What about the Maquis crew members -- did they stay in Starfleet? Were they put on trial? And did they all stay together as Voyager crew members, or did they go their separate ways?
Instead, we only see them approaching earth in the last scene. And everyone is standing there practically emotionless. You'd think someone would have shed a few tears. Very disappointing. |

FIrst, I do believe it was alluded to in previous episodes that Starfleet supported the Maquis who were integrated into Voyager and were not going to press charges. Also, I think that they leave you hanging for a reason. Maybe it's for a future movie. Maybe it's because that information wouldn't make for an interesting show. I mean, how are you going to fit that all in? It would take another SEVERAL episodes for us to find out if they go their separate ways, if they stay together, if the Maquis go on trial, what happens to Janeway's former fiance, etc... It would simply not flow into the episode.
Anyways, I think that "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" would have to be my favorite. Second favorite is "Star Trek: The Next Generation". Then there's a tie for "The Original Series" and "Enterprise", then Voyager. |

Agreed. At one point, the producers were supposedly considering having Voyager get home as early as November of the last season, with the remaining episodes spent on dealing with what happened after the crew got back to earth. I think this would have been a unique way to end the series. |

Unique, but more than likely a ratings failure. People want to know what happens, but people don't want more than 15 minutes to describe what happens. I mean, there just wasn't that much to be done, really. I mean, it's up to your imagination, but to get Voyager home in November would not have been a smart move. It should have gotten home on the finale. I mean, it gets home in November, you see what happens, and then the finale just isn't important. You knew they got home, you have the jist of what is going to happen, no need to watch the finale.

I can definitely see where returning to Earth anytime before the last episode could have resulted in an anti-climactical finale. I still wish we could have seen a little more of what happened after their return to earth, though. Oh, well.

IMDB lists Kate Mulgrew as playing an ADMIRAL Janeway in the upcoming movie. However, there is no confirmation of this, so, as was mentioned, we may just get to hear a little about what happens.

I personally love all the Trek series (even the cartoon). But, if I had to list them best to worst, it would be:
1. Next Generation 2. Voyager 3. Deep Space Nine 4. Original Series But, don't read it wrong, I love them all.
