Sad Tiger Woods Seriously Injured in Auto Accident

Link

Professional golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol just reported.

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.

Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said. No other information about his condition has been released.

FHP said the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tiger Woods was injured in a car wreck early Friday near his Florida home, but was released from the hospital later in the day.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:25 a.m. ET. Woods was driving a 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle. No one else was in the car.

The highway patrol reported Woods' injuries as serious, though Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan said on Friday afternoon that the golfer was treated at the hospital and released in good condition.

The police report narrative said the "driver had just pulled out of the driveway at his residence ... as [vehicle] began to drive on Deacon Circle, [vehicle] struck a fire hydrant. The front of [vehicle] then struck a tree..."

The airbags in the car did not deploy, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. The newspaper said that airbags typically do not deploy if a vehicle is traveling less than 33 miles per hour.

Woods agent, Mark Steinberg, told USA Today that Woods is fine. Golf World magazine executive editor Ron Sirak said on ESPNEWS that Woods has "facial lacerations." Mayor Gary Bruhn of Windermere, Fla., where Woods lives, also said on CNN that Woods has facial lacerations.

The highway patrol says the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. However, the highway patrol said the crash was not alcohol-related.

Woods is scheduled to play in the Chevron World Challenge beginning Dec. 3 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. He last played two weeks ago in Australia, where he won the Australian Masters.

He won six times this year after missing eight months recovering from reconstructive surgery on his left knee. Even though he failed to win a major, Woods said he considered this a successful year because he did not know how his knee would respond.

Woods, who has won 82 times around the world and 14 majors, returned to his $2.4 million home in the exclusive Isleworth subdivision near Orlando earlier this week after attending the Stanford-Cal football game, where he tossed the coin at the start of the game and was inducted into Stanford's sports Hall of Fame at halftime.

This report sounds fishy...

He was in serious condition then he's fine? That was a fast recovery...

And alcohol is not to blame but charges will be filed? What?

I don't know...

There are a lot of questions being raised.

When the Police arrived, Tiger was on the ground near the SUV in a semi conscious state, his wife "hovering over him" with a golf club in her hands.

Supposedly his wife heard the crash, raced outside and broke open the rear window of the SUV with a golf club to get Tiger out of the car.

Uh huh. Anyone else buing this?

OMG, I've only heard bits and pieces but just hearing that he struck a fire hydrant yet no alchohol or drugs were involved sounds fishy to me.

This whole thing does sound fishy to me. First he was seriously hurt, then he wasn't, then his wife smashes the windshield, etc. Sounds more like a soap opera.

On a different note, what is it with Cadillac Escalades and some of the people who drive them? A woman driving one (and immersed in a conversation on her cell phone ) totalled our parked car several weeks ago.

I never bought this story from the start. His wife had to smash his car window to get him out? I just laughed as I typed it.

I know. The only ones I feel sorry for are their kids.

When does an agent become a lawyer?
I think they are trying to get his story straight or something because when police got there his wife said he was asleep..

If you guys did that, I don't think the police would just say, okay...

Now his agent says come by tomorrow..

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/28/tiger.woods/index.html

Part of the story:

(CNN) -- State troopers arrived at the home of Tiger Woods on Saturday to interview the pro golfer and his wife about a car crash near his home, but were told the couple was not available to talk as scheduled, a spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The troopers were asked by Woods' agent to postpone the interview until Sunday, spokeswoman Kim Miller said.

State troopers had tried to speak to Woods on Friday as part of a routine car accident investigation, but his wife said he was sleeping, said Kim Miller, a spokeswoman for the Florida highway patrol.

Woods was treated and released from a hospital after suffering minor injuries in a car accident early Friday in his neighborhood in Windermere.

Why do the police make it sound like he did something wrong?
