I still like talking on the phone with people. But I tend to text, email and IM with friends and relatives who don't live close by.

I have never liked talking on the phone, believe it or not. I'm not a big talker. But I don't do texting or IM either. I would rather email or write a letter. That's just me. I just keep a cell phone for necessity - and I just talk on it when I do use it.

I'm old fashioned so I like the phone & even though I have a land line I use my cell over the l.l. 90% of the time. I never text but will send em's now and then (so 70% phone, 0% texting and 30% em).

I'm not really a phone person, and I will never text message. Even though I am not a big talker, I am still old school in the sense that I want to communicate with people person to person, face to face.

The only time I text people is when I can't call them directly. Otherwise I'd rather talk to them on the phone. I think voices are much more personal than computers or texting. E-mail is awesome if you want a quick response or something like that, though. In all honesty, I E-mail a lot more than I call. I used to write letters as well and I still do on occasion, but E-mail is the way to go.

I like the phone. It beats having to sit at the computer. Even though I have a laptop, for the convenience factor, the phone just seems to be so much more personal. It depends on the person and the circumstance too. If it's going to be a big chatfest or getting caught up after a long time of not talking, phone. If someone just has a simple question or comment, texts are fine for that. I also love long, lengthy e-mails from my close friends, but I take my time to respond.
This is off-topic Solomon, so I apologize, but am I the only person that thinks everyone is glued to their phones? I hate nothing more than to be at a family gathering and for everyone to be texting, checking their e-mail, or surfing the net on their phone. Sure, I do that, but not in the middle of a family function or eating dinner. I set limits. Another thing that gets me is in a restaurant, yapping on the phone or texting/e-mailing. I check my messages/calls, but not every second. It just ticks me off. It seems everyone is so dependent on their phones these days. |

Everyone is so glued to their phone, and I just feel like taking it from them. I think it's disrespectful, especially if someone's talking, or you're in the middle of dinner.

I CANNOT speak on the phone... So it is texting for me. I'm good about it, though... I've gotten into the habit of having vibrate shut off for a LONG time now. I answer my phone when I answer it. And I value my job, so I don't talk on the phone or text unless I'm on my break or at lunch.

I'm not much for talking on the phone anymore, even before e-mailing and texting became the thing to do, I had lost interest in talking on the phone. I have friends that can stay on for hours. Not me. I e-mail once in a while though, and I only text when I want to ask something real quick, or something short that I have to say. I'm not obssessed with texting.
And a response to Jonathan's comment about phones being glued to people's ears, didn't have that problem at our family gathering, but just people generally in public. And the way they have to talk loudly. I don't know what makes people think we're interested in what's going on in their life. One of these days I'm going to go up to one of them and say "Congratulations, you win. Your life is soooo much better than everybody else's!!"And texting?? I've seen people sitting at the same table at a restaurant and they're texting each other!! WTF?? What happened to actually having a conversation face to face? |
