Knots Landing, becuase the writing and acting was better! although Dallas got the better ratings (for the most part) i think that KL was a much better show, and i think it was that fact that kept knots landing on for fourteen years and made it the longest running drama series in television history!

I think both "Dallas" and "Knots Landing" are very good shows. "Knots" aged a bit better than "Dallas" and really only ran out of steam the last season or two, where "Dallas" was pretty bad during its last 4 years. Even the worst "Knots" was never as bad as the worst "Dallas". "Knots" was much better at bringing in new characters, which helped keep it fresh for a long time.

BTW, "Bonanza" ran for 14 seasons as well. "Gunsmoke" ran for 20 seasons, and beat both of them.

Who do you think was the Leading Lady of Knots? i think Michele Lee because she is one of two original castmembers and apperaed in all 344 episodes.

I have watched Knots Landing since it first primiered.

Well, it's a pretty large ensemble, and I think there are two leading ladies: Michele Lee and Joan Van Ark. The leading men are obviously Kevin Dobson and Ted Shackelford.

I remember when the show ended, the creator, David Jacobs, was interviewed, and was mentioning how the show had to end because it basically got too expensive. He talked about how that if he could continue the show, he would start over with just Lee, Van Ark, Dobson, and Shackelford, plus a new supporting cast.

Yeeah Michele Lee and Joan Van Ark are the leading ladys and the leading men are Kevin Dobson and Ted Shakelford.

Michele Lee and Ted Shalkeford are the two original castmembers from when it started in 1979 and when it ended in 1993.

That would of been a good idea
Knots Landing (1994-)
it could go like that lol
Knots Landing
Starring
Kevin Dobson
Michele Lee
Ted Shakelford
Joan Van Ark
also starring
supporting cast you know

plus the reunion movies were good

Dallas and Knots Landing were both great shows and each had features that made them wonderful. However, for me I liked Dallas better. Without a doubt, Dallas had the better theme song and opening sequence, not to mention better cliffhangers. Although, I've only seen a couple Knots Landing cliffhangers. But for me ranking the 1980's primetime soaps in order from favorite to least favorite, mine would be:

Dallas
Falcon Crest
Knots Landing
Dynasty (Last simply because I haven't seen much of it)

As far as leading men, I would go with Ted Schackelford and Kevin Dobson. In the credits, I would definitely bill Ted and Joan first then Michele and Kevin. Besides, Knots Landing then Columbia house edition has Gary and Val at the top of the cover at 12:00, Karen and Sid at 3:00, Lillimae at 6:00, Kenny and Ginger at 8:00, Abby at 10:00 and Richard and Laura in the middle.

The show started with Gary and Val starting a new life in California away from the Ewing clan in Dallas.
