Default Palpitations!!??

I have been getting a few Palpitations in the past few weeks/month...and it's worrying me. I have a doctors appointment on Monday.

I know that it's normal to have the odd one or two now and again..but I've have loads the in the past month and now.

I have stress with work and life..which may be a big problem..but..are they as common as some people say or are they something to worry about?

I say better be safe than sorry. If they get worse between now and your appointment, go to the ER! In the meantime, I hope and pray that they subside and that you feel better.

I'm worrying myself crazy because my Dad died young of a heart condition.

Maybe I'm worrying too much?? Gosh I hope so.

My grandfather also died young of a heart attack, so you're not crazy at all for worrying. If it's a genetic thing, that's all the more reason to be vigilant. Keep us posted, honey!! Hoping and praying that all goes well for you.

It's good that you're not taking any chances with your health, especially since you're in a high risk group. Monday is around the corner, but I'd go the the ER if I had a major attack. Good luck. Sorry about your grandfathers, both of you.

You're not being a hypochondriac.

Palpitations can be a sign of something serious, but they can also be a sign of something not so serious. Either way, being out front of the problem and getting it diagnosed is the best way to counteract it. I think you've done the right thing, absolutely.

Good luck and please let us know how things turn out!

I had to go to the ER for heart palpitations back in October. Scared me senseless.

Stress was the main cause of it, haven't had any since (knocks on wood)

Don't feel stupid! It's your health - and that's what's really important.

No need to feel stupid. I've definitely "been there" and I know how difficult it is to decide whether something is "appointment worthy" or not; you worry that the doctors will dismiss it as nothing (and make you feel silly in the process), and on the other hand, you worry that if you ignore the symptoms, something very bad could happen.

But as Monika said, it's YOUR health and you have every right to pursue the problem. Even if it turns out to be "just" stress, that's still a health issue that needs to be addressed and you should not feel guilty doing so.

Again, best of luck!

I've read that if you drink lots of caffeine that it can cause heart palpation.
