I don't know if I'd call myself a fan (it's been awhile since I've seen it), but it was my favorite on the "NBC Sunday Mystery Movie" (remember the guy with the flashlight in the opening?). It kind of sucked in the last year, though, when Sally died and it was renamed "McMillan".
For those of you who have never seen this, it was on every few weeks, for either 90 minutes or two hours, and rotated mostly with "Columbo" and "McCloud". It was about the San Francisco commissioner of police and his wife, who helped him solve crimes. Kind of like a 70s version of "Hart to Hart". And was it just me, or was Susan Saint James WAY too young to be married to Rock Hudson on this show? |

You are right. Susan Saint James was WAY too young to be Rock Hudson's wife. I read somewhere that she may have been 19 years younger than him.
Still, I enjoyed this show more than the other NBC Mystery Movies. Nancy Walker as Milred was quite commical. I cannot adequately describe the way she delivered her lines. At the end of one episode Mildred tries to convince the McMillan's to try a meal she prepared. The McMillans feeling full from a catered luncheon and are only interested in napping. Mildred replies in a rather suggestve tone, "Oh good. That always makes you hungry." Of course the fans of the series, along with Mildred, know that Mac and Sally have no intention of "taking a nap." |
