Interesting to see the plant is still there after all these years. Street view gives you a better look at the site.

Type Fernald Feed Materials Production Center into Google Earth and you'll see it.

No it's not still there. All the buildings were torn down and it was converted into a park after being cleaned up. I have driven by there before actually.

Are they still radioactive? I'm no physicist but I assume there is a half-life or something that would lead the remains to be safe after a while.

Is it a long period of time, like a 100 years or is it a lot sooner like 20 years. (Damn, I wish I didn't fail physics in high school.

)

Also I have to imagine that with today's technology, ther would be a safe way to examine or even autopsy the remains. Granted it's probably too expensive to use in a case like this.
