Post Party of Five vs. Popular

which is better and why?

For me this is a tough one, as i loved both shows, but i would have to go with popular, by just a little bit, only because popular was able to balance comedy and drama and at the same time still be true to it's purpouse which was to first entertain, and then deliver a message, wheras with party of five i think that they tended to focus a little to much on delivering a message, and often forgot about entertaining, although there were times it managed to do both, and very well i might add, ei- the classic INTERVETNION episode, and the classicly written and protrayed depression storyline and the exellant cancer story. The reason that these stories worked is because that they happened to and were responded to in a way that stayed true to what the characters had stoode for up until that point! Towards the end the show often forgot to do that, like with that whole, ridiculous abuse story, first of all It completely condridicted everything that Julia had stood for, after everything she had gone through julia would never let a man push her around like that!

Did you know that the season finale was actually the SERIES finale? I was so upset! Brooke and Sam made Harrison choose which one he wanted to be with and they both wanted him to go to the prom with them. He said he would tell them at the prom. Nicole and Brooke got in a fight and this time they were out for blood. Nicole thought Brooke ruined her life because Brooke was the glamour girl and Nicole was nothing to anyone anymore. So Nicole said that Brook would pay and she sped off while drunk to the prom and then it showed Harrison and Sam and Brooke talking. It didnt show the conversation but Harrison made his choice and Brooke started to walk out and when she got in the middle of the road to cross the street Nicole hit her with her car and then the screen went black and you could her sirens. Oh yeah Jane had the baby and it was a girl.

ohmigod, i hope that brooke didn't die! guess, we'll never know, yeah i was sad to when i found out that POPULAR had been canceled. i hate when the networks cancel a show without letting us find out what happens to the characters. at least with models inc., fans that had cabels E! chanel got to find out what happened to the characters.

I've never seen "Popular", but "Party of Five" was great during its early years, especially the first season, when pretty much every episode was great. It should have won the Best Drama Emmy that year (it did win the Golden Globe). The ratings were low though, and Fox renewed it on the condition that everyone lighten up a little. There were still some good episodes during the second season (Kirsten's depression) and third (Bailey's intervention), but it slowly went downhill. The last couple of seasons were pretty terrible. I agree that the abuse storyline was bad -- it just didn't seem right for Julia, whose character really deteriorated over the years.

I've never seen "Popular," but I absolutely LOVE "Party of Five!!!" I only caught it in syndication on Lifetime, but I managed to see most of the episodes. I never really saw a lot of the final season, and my memories of it are all positive. It's my third favorite show, after "Facts of Life" and "The Division." I wish Lifetime would show it again!!
