It's in ice form, and it's at the bottoms (and slightly underneath) of craters. But it's there, and there may be quite a bit. This is quite exciting news, and I'm shocked it hasn't gotten more play today.

The satellite, known as Lcross (pronounced L-cross), crashed into a crater near the Moon’s south pole a month ago. The 5,600-miles-per-hour impact carved out a hole 60 to 100 feet wide and kicked up at least 26 gallons of water.

“We got more than just a whiff,” Peter H. Schultz, a professor of geological sciences at Brown University and a co-investigator of the mission, said in a telephone interview. “We practically tasted it with the impact.”

This is just my opinion only but I dont see what there is to be excited about. Frankly I think these space missions should have ended long ago. They spend billions on these that could be used right here on earth. If there is water, how are we going to get it, and how do we know if its safe? In other words more money that should be used here will be spent.

....And you know that the first people up there will be the rich people. I can't get excited about it either. It's interesting, but I'm not a space person.

I'm still waiting for the shopping malls on the moon that my 8th grade science teacher said would exist by the time I'm an adult.
