Default ALF - season 2 in Germany this December

I'm tempted to pre order but I'm worried they may have a cut version of "Ballad of Gilligan's Island" which is my all time favourite.
If they don't like the chipmunks then who knows?

Don't worry, they posted the runtimes of all the episodes and they're all in the 24 minute range The only thing that might be cut from S2 is Willy singing at the piano in "Someone to Watch Over Me, part 2". That ep is listed as being 23:40, while it should be 24:30.. but.. could be a typo as well.

The run times does make it sound promising.
The Gilligan's Island dvd's were released through Warner Bros. so you wouldn't expect too much issue over the music.

Ive compared the runtimes of both seasons one and two with unedited tv airings (from french tv) and only 2 eps varied with a lot; "For Your Eyes Only" from season 1 (cause of the Chipmunks song) and "Someone to Watch Over Me, part 2" and the only song in that ep is Willy playing a song by Jefferson Airplane on the piano.

It's sounding better all the time.
As you've said before what's one episode cut for a music issue compared to every episode cut for making time for commercials.

Have you noticed the runtime is 553 minutes on the Amazon website? Do you think this is just an error in the promotions department?

Just my luck. Someone on another board has received their German season 2 set and the only episode that's cut is "The Ballad of Gilligan's Island". Looks like I'll be waiting another 5 years. At least I got season 1 almost in its entirety.

You're right. The American dvd episode runs at 20:36 and the German release is 21:34. There's still 2 minutes missing though. Probably music issues and not cuts for the sake of it. Hopefully they'll keep the extra few seconds of Willies tirade after falling in Alf's lagoon, Alf asking Gilligan why he never asked Mary Ann out, The Skipper saying his "one little shipwreck" line and the Willie getting a glass of water sequence before Brian asks for a glass himself. I love the "I haven't worn a different shirt in... We know, we know" part.
Apart from "Ballad" the run times look pretty good.

1. Working my Way back to you 24:28
2. The Ballad of Gilligan's Island 21:34
3. Take a Look at me now 24:39
4. Wedding Bell Blues 23:56
5. Prime Time 24:16
6. Some Enchanted Evening 24:07
7. Oh, Pretty Woman 24:46
8. Something's Wrong with me 24:47
9. Night Train 24:48
10. Isn't it Romantic? 24:06
11. Hail to the Chief 24:48
12. Alf's Special Christmas 48:32
13. The Boy next Door 24:28
14. Can I Get a Witness ? 24:47
15. We're so sorry, Uncle Albert 24:49
16. Someone to Watch over me, Part 1 24:47
17. Someone to Watch over me, Part 2 24:26
18. We Gotta Get out of this Place 24:46
19. You ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog 24:27
20. Hit me with your Best Shot 24:26
21. Movin' out 24:47
22. I'm your Puppet 24:33
23. Tequilia 24:35

Still.. what is 2 minutes compared to the american copies, missing AT LEAST 2 minutes from every episode :P

I'd agree with you if wasn't for the fact the 2 minutes in question is from my all time favouite episode.
I'm trying to piece together the episode utilising footage from various sources but need a small section of soundtrack. The section from Alf saying "Aloha" to Kate entering the kitchen.

So, you're not getting the DVD because your favorite episode has 2 minutes cut in it?

My initial impulse was to cancel the order but I figured at least the other 24 episodes will be uncut.
I'm trying to piece together uncut versions of the "Unaired Pilot", "For Your Eyes Only" and "Ballad of Gilligan's Island" episodes for a separate DVD for myself.
I can't see anyone else releasing any more uncut versions on DVD.

Hooray! Season 2 has finally arrived. A little mix up with the order was the delay.

Had to immediately find out what's added in the "Ballad of Gilligan's Island" episode. Amazingly it's music related. Alf and Brian singing the theme is left in. Alf leaving the Tanner bedroom singing the theme is left in. Alf singing "16 Tons" is left in and Alf singing "the millionaire and his wife, a movie star" after meeting Gilligan and the Skipper. Everything else is cut as per the US release. There's a bit of narration at the end of the closing titles that I've never heard before. An announcer says: "Alf is an Alien production and is distributed by Warner Brothers domestic television distribution." It's not there in the German audio, just the rest of the theme.
It makes me mad because the cuts are obviously not music related. They just threw in a syndicated episode.
