James Cameron Disses Leonardo DiCaprio
Although it was some 12 years ago that the epic film “Titanic” sunk the box office competition, its usually the first thing that springs to mind when we hear the words James Cameron. But it turns out that the Oscar winning director would only do business with one of the film’s stars again.
“I’d certainly work with her (Kate Winslet) again; she’s very talented. Whereas Leo DiCaprio switches his acting on and off like a faucet, Kate’s acting process is to internalize all this stuff and use it,” Pop Tarts has exclusively learned Cameron told the December issue of Playboy Magazine. “I made Titanic because I wanted to dive to a shipwreck, not because I particularly wanted to make the movie … 'Titanic' was about ‘f*ck you’ money.” And while most people were outraged over Christian Bale’s now infamous berating of a crew member on the set of "Terminator Salvation," Cameron actually found it all pretty comedic. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...ardo-dicaprio/ |

To be fair, I don't think James Cameron is exactly the easiest person to work with, either. It'll be interesting to see if/when Leonardo's people issue a rebuttal.

Hm, that strikes me as odd. While Kate is an amazing actress (love her!), Leo certainly has quite a bit of talent. He was superb in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" and "The Basketball Diaries." I also loved him in "Romeo+Juliet", although some might disagree with my opinion on that.

Ironically I hated Leo when he did "Titanic". Actually I hated that whole movie. I thought he looked more like Kate Winslet's kid brother than her love interest. But he's really improved as an actor and I can't believe that James Cameron is criticizing him like this. I mean, he may not be the greatest actor, but you have to admit.... he helped James Cameron earn a TON of money just by making that movie!

Plus, James Cameron hasn't done much in recent years except cash in on his Titanic fame (like the 2003 3-D flick Ghosts of the Abyss, and the TV documentaries Titanic Adventure and Last Mysteries of the Titanic). OK, he was also a major force in the TV show Dark Angel (which made a star out of then-unknown Jessica Alba), but I can't think of all else he's done since 1997 that's not Titanic related.
On the other hand, post-Titanic Leonardo has gone from acclaimed film to acclaimed film (Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can, Aviator, Blood Diamond, The Departed, etc.), has been nominated for two Oscars, and has worked with directors such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott and Sam Mendes. That's not too shabby. I think ol' Jim is more jealous than anything else, because as a director, he is nowhere near being in the same league as the four directors I just mentioned! |

I'd like to hear from Leo's camp, they should all go on Oprah and air their differences.

Cameron's a talented filmmaker -- when he actually makes films -- but he sounds like an a**hole from things I've read or heard about him. He taunted Kate Winslet on the Titanic set by calling her "Kate Weighs-A-Lot."
Nice, huh? |

Let's face it, it was not his sappy script that made Titanic a hit. It was Leo and Kate. I'm not a Leo fan, personally I think he's very over-rated, but he was definitely one of the reasons the film became so huge. |
